    R.I.P. Champ (schoolboy)

A Truly great fighter, who had the heart of a Giant.

Just heard the WBC will pick up the costs of Bobby's funeral, so as to give him a service with the "Dignity he Deserves"

Did he suffer from dementia? The boxing orgs that make millions on these fighters need to help out more. Specially the old timers. I don't know much, but I guarantee everyone was making bank back then, except the fighters.

He made some decent $$ in the 1982-1984 time frame.

I know he made over $400,000 for the second Boza fight. That is why he was stripped. He fought that fight for Don Chagrin, instead of Don King. King, who forced fighters to sign options in return for a title shot, had options on Chacon's first defence.

He offered Chacon much less than $400,000 to fight Camacho and Chacon balked, rightfully.

King wasn't interested in Boza/Chacon and never considered putting on that fight and the WBC was going to let him get away with it - even though Boza was their mandatory challenger.

Come to think of it, though, the purse probably went mostly to the Lawyers, because King and the WBC sued him for fighting Boza and not Camacho - EVEN THOUGH BOZA WAS THE WBC #1 CONTENDER!!

They stripped Chacon and put in their house boy, Bazooka Limon as a sacrificial lamb for Camacho.

Have I ever mentioned that Don King and the WBC were corrupt mobsters? LOL.

Chacon also got a good payday for the Mancini fight.

He should have quit permanently after that loss. He had taken more than enough punishment, but he fought on for a few more years.

At least those scumbags are paying for the funeral - but the funeral cost pales in comparison to the money Chacon lost by having to get involved in litigation with them and not getting the Hector Camacho fight.

The WBC could have honered THEIR OWN RULES and let Chacon fight Boza, then have the winner fight Camacho.

Anyway, I bet Boza goes to the funeral.

Chacon has a HUGE HEART and provided us with gripping action in the late '70s and early '80s.

Chacon/Boza II got me hooked on Boxing.
