Hugh McIlvanney's collection of essays 'On Boxing' - most notably his eulogy to Johnny Owen which is a beautiful piece - is, imo, second only to AJ Liebling's The Sweet Science in boxing's literature. Dark Trade by Donald McRae is also terrifiic. But 'McIlvanney On Boxing'. What a terrific read. Great chapters on the Rumble, FotC, Caracas, The Coopman fight , Hagler v Minter, No Mas among many - as I recall. Can't recommend it highly enough. As the thread is about Colin Hart and I have slightly hijacked it, respect to Colin for years of outstanding journalism and knowledge. As a newspaper journalist, he was the king on the UK scene for all the time I studied contemporary boxing. Not many made greater contributions to their role within the sport.
