RIP Corrie Sanders

Sad news R I P.

 

RIP Sanders. Had you been based in the USA, things would have been different for you. Team Lewis and Tyson often used your name as a possible opponent, but never felt the risk was worth the reward.

Sanders accomplished a lot with a little know trainer, and 2nd rate promoter. If Sanders had better boxing connections, he would likely have secured a mandatory for Lewis or Tyson.

Sanders was an accomplished athlete in multiple sports ( Rugby, Tennis, Track and Field, and Golf ), but his sporting legacy is greatest in boxing.

 

Very sad news.
I pretty much saw him from his early amateur days up until his last fight.

They had Corrie on a local radio station last month, where they played a prank on the guy, giving out his cell number over the radio.
Sanders was then brought onto the show a few days later, and they had a good laugh and a joke about it afterwards. He took the prank in his stride, despite half the country phoning his number. I never met him, but he seemed like a genuine, down-to-earth guy.
Just such a senseless way to die. R.I.P.

 

You're not sincere, just using it as a way to spout your **** about the Klitschkos again.

 

Tragic. Rip. I never will forget the upset over Wlad.

 

Corrie Sanders...What might have been.

Such a nice guy. I truly wish he'd been American, and found his way into a man like Eddie Futch or Emmanuel Stewards care.

A very athletic, powerful, explosive man, and a warrior. Had anybody made him a technician, and ridden his ass at an early age to get in and stay in shape, he could have been a landmark heavyweight of this era.

Its worth remembering, folks. How many pro's toil out there who could be so much more, but the stars just don't align.

Never sparred. Met, though, I was around for his fight with Rahman.

Dude took a tough loss like a champ. Was all smiles and happy, broken English. Thought he almost had him, and could work on things and go home and get better. I admire that attitude. I've heard that he dealt with his victory over Wlad in the same way. His loss to Vitali was rather inevitable, and Corrie knew that he wasn't going to win in any physical condition(Vitali fought carefully, and had the composure under fire Wlad did not), and thus decided to just show up sans a true camp and give it a go. That is not so admirable, but I love that he didn't bow out to collect a paycheck; He said to himself, I got in the ring, might as well fight, and fight he did, as hard as he was able. I'm glad he showed up fat; Every round he showed up in better shape to fight in is more brain cells dead.

I'm also glad I never had to fight him. He kept his hands low enough to clip, but that sneaky lightning bolt left hand would just suck, for any fighter ever. Corrie Sanders wouldn't beat too many ATG heavies, but he'd hit you hard enough to make him memorable, atleast one time, even if you got him in the first.

He should really have never worn that moustached look, though, poor *******. I'm aggrieved at his loss. Boxing is short on gentlemen.

 

Yup, I remember we talked Sanders briefly the day Wlad fought Mormeck and what you said Don King told you about him. Sad the only time Corrie ever gets/got mentioned on ESB is when people are trying to **** on Vitali with, "His best win is Corrie Sanders :rofl :rofl". Flattering. That was a ****ing Great Fight, and I'll never forget him stopping Wlad. Corrie could crack with anybody.

I consider Corrie a 2-3 round fighter, especially by that stage. After 2 rounds he seemed gassed and went to the ropes. But before that he was winning and making Vitali look very uncomfortable

If he was in tip top shape and keep that going for the full fight I think he could beat Vitali, but Corrie was never going to be tip top shape even in his prime

He actually put on 10lbs between both Klit fights. I'd say the extra weight made him take more punishment

 

fat gives a good protective layer.
Example: It was the lean Ali that got send to the ground by a cruiser (Cooper) and not the muHAMmad Ali that faced George foreman.

fat also doesn't mean your stamina is ****, it is mostly about conditioning.
(It was the cruiser Haye who was a frequent gasser)

If you're just fat and no muscle you're still going to suck though.

I'm just jealous because I can't grow one half that luscious.

Sanders' 'stache was a badge of manly that I will never live up to.
