RIP. Brazil’s greatest ever boxer and one of the best ever in Latin American boxing history. More importantly, a happy post-boxing life as well.
Damn thats some sad news...The South American GOAT and one of the best ever..A real legend and a credit to the sport... with all the fuss going on in Brazil today with the presidential elections this will most likely go unnoticed and will barely get any coverage and thats a shame..He deserves a huge tribute. RIP Champ.
RIP to a great champion and incredible fighting machine. One of the most well rounded fighters in the ring and a legend to the sport. This content is protected
Would also like a shout out to @ChrisJS for always bringing much appreciation for this great fighter with his time spent with him and also making his book about him as well.
When I first got into boxing as a young kid he was one of the prominent champions. A great fighter R.I.P. champ.
A very sad day. Very few people can say they made the type of history he did and lived the life he did. A very accomplished and dignified man. A year ago I had the pleasure of hosting him and his two kids and I asked him a few times “how are you feeling champ?” And he’d always respond “very, very happy” he told me he was the happiest person in the world. He was old and frail but a total trooper who made every fan he encountered feel valued. I will miss knowing that he’s alive but his legacy lives forever.
I was saying about a year ago that Jofre, Ortiz and Accavallo were probably the oldest living great fighters, and now they've all gone in quick succession, bless them. Jofre's career and life speaks for itself. A truly great, great fighter, one of the very finest of all boxer-punchers. I'm going to pour myself a big f*ck off glass of Orange Tanqueray and ice and watch the first Medel fight in a bit.
I've just been looking at your avatar with a bit of a lump in my throat Chris. I'm an easy fecking mark, lol. You did him and the boxing world a really great service.
