RIP Errol Christie

First and foremost lovely chap! RIP

As a fighter my word I never saw a British boxer with as much raw talent - fast combinations ahead of his time and defensive moves not seen in Europe at that time. He used to go 50/50 with the Kronk crew including Hearns and McCallum!

His sparring wars with Chris Eubank in 1989 at the gym in Romford were better than any world title fight I've ever seen to be fair. If he had Eubank's chin he might of been unbeatable in boxing.

Very sorry to hear this. He deserved better. Wasnt he attacked by a policeman or something? Wasnt this hiow the cancer came to light?

Agreed mate. Disgusting when you think of some of the current crop who are unlikable arseholes with fanboys galore, that shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as guys like Christie.

 

I'm absolutely shocked and saddened to here Christie has passed away.

I sent him a card to the hospice I doubt it arrived until this morning. Sadly he would not have been able to read it. Gutted for him. He went out of his way to sign his book for me a few years back. Top fella. RIP. X

Firstly I share your sorrow about Christies untimely death. (Even more worrying for me cos I'm older than him, but anyway....)
This may come as a surprise to you but people just like you were saying the exact same thing about Christie and Kaylor in THEIR day...yes indeed! You may doubt me but it's true....
