I used to love watching Gary fight. Big strong tough guy. If Lewis had not been around he could have fought Bruno at some point maybe. Nice guy rip

Badly managed, look how many title shots Bruno got and made 10 times the money as mason

Big slow fighter, but tough and had good all round skills.Managed by same camp as Bruno which seemed to hold him back ?
Ranked 4 in world when taking big payday v Lennox.( Think it was British and European title although i could be mistaken). Remember it well, seemed a strange choice of fight for both . Big risk for up and coming Lewis ( Mason was very narrow favourite for the fight) . Mason prior to Lewis looked at least as deserving of a title shot as Bruno, yet never seemed in the frame.Bruno seemed to have to do less to get his shot.
Masons' biggest win was possibly Ty Biggs, late stopage after a really competetive fight in a 10 rounder.
Eye injury v Lewis basically ended career at the top. It was a real tough fight.
Sadly lost his life when a van ran him over whilst cycling on a dark winter morning.
Van turned across him. Van drivers defence was Gary had dark clothing and no lights. His family wanted prosecution of the driver but i dont think it happened.
Above all i remember him as a decent bloke. He was a good sky pundit for a while but lost his job for swearing , thinking he wasnt live on air !

As everyone else has said. Nice bloke, good boxer, good pundit and an excellent rugby player if I remember rightly.

He looked a plodder in the ring but on the rugby pitch, he went like sh1t off a shovel, apparently.
