I don’t know what to write here Rummy. Marvin was amazing, he was better than Marvellous. His name didn’t do him justice. At times he was perfection personified in the ring

I empathise with you entirely and I am sorry that Marvin leaving this world has ended so many great memories and attachments that you and many others have. His aura of invincibility will however live on forever. So too will the memory of your father, so closely intertwined with your memories of the Marvellous one.

    Cheers

Man I loved Hagler. With the end of his reign after 87 boxing changed forever. The loner who bucked the popular clique and became champion over them all. A great inspiration to those who go their own way. ThanksMMH

Like many British boxing fans back in the 1970s I read about Marvin first of all in the American boxing mags. Saw his fights on TV with Kevin Finnegan and Vito Antuofermo. Then after Hagler ripped the world title from Alan Minter,I marvelled at how cool he kept when faced with a mob of stupid, knucklescraping racist morons.

    A great champion. RIP,Marvelous.

One of the greatest fighters competing in one of the greatest eras of Boxing history. Will it ever happen again?

Grew up idolizing Hagler. One of the best to ever lace up the gloves. I think his final record should of been 65-1-1. He clearly won the Watts and Antofurmo 1 fights and I think he squeaked out a decision against SRL

Very nice eulogy to the Marvelous one. A true blue collar, lunchbox guy.

Your old man was wise, being a Yankee fan. I can remember my dad taking me to the REAL Yankee Stadium and seeing Yogi Berra, Moose Skowron and the great Mickey Mantle blasting Homers out of sight.

His skill notwithstanding, what I loved about him was his integrity.

I've always loved and admired those who are never afraid to break away from the pack. Like Muhammad Ali before him,Marvin always did it HIS way.

Tremendous work here. A lot of this rings true for me too, and played out in more or less the same way.

Great tribute Rummy, appreciate it. I am planning on watching a lot of Hagler fights again soon.
