Hi Cecil. Memory's a bit vague on this but I can safely assume that it would be on one of the Saturday afternoon British sporting programmes - Grandstand or World of Sport.

 

Always wondered whether the Finnegan fights were televised.
Which I’d seen them.

 

Hagler was one of a kind.

I like that Hagler kept it simple. No entourage. Same trainor and manager. Never looked like a slob when not fighting. Quiet. Reminds me a lot of Salvador Sanchez. Who I think is great.

Hagler had 3 losses on his record. all decisions. I watched virtually all his fights and I don't think he was ever really beaten in the ring. Outslicked early and the Leonard fight was his I believe. It's strange how with some guys like Marvin you never consider their mortality, almost like he's too tough to pass away. If anyone wants to see what Hagler was, watch the Sibson , Minter and Scypion fights.

 

I think about this more then I should, the past eras seem almost magical to look back at.
