He was one of my favorite fighters. He was a true warrior, always fought hard. Awesome.................
Too many head punches, his fights were always gruelling. I, believe he was suffering from pugilistic dementia, i will go through some old magazines off mine!!
He was in so many exciting fights - all of them are worth watching but the war with Lopez was just incredible. Fighters like him only come along once in a generation, if that.
I have the previlege to have some of his fights. Always in great shape, always psyched up to fight, fought his heart out and against the odds, special Philly kinda fighter, I would name his fights against Marvin Johnson, Yaqui Lopez and John Conteh as a remembrance, unfortunately he never faced Michael Spinks but held the WBC Light Heavyweight Championship and gave his all against Dwight Braxton or Dwight Muhammad Qawi. R.I.P One My Favourite Fighters Of All Time.
Matthew Franklin actually began his career as a boxer/counter-puncher, but reinvented himself as a slugger after dropping a couple of debatable decisions early in his career. He then proceeded to go to war with a solid group of contenders, and gave us some of the most memorable fights in the history of the sport. He paid dearly, but left a legacy that few boxers ever are able to create. Thank for everything, Matt. You'll be missed. RIP.
