Scottish welterweight Mike Towell has died from injuries sustained in his fifth-round loss to Dale Evans on Thursday night. His passing should give us all pause to consider the risks fighters take every time they step in the ring. Thoughts are with Mike's family and friends.
Yes awful news was just about to post this myself,Ref Victor Loughlin stopped the fight in the fifth round.
From the look of the fight, it was a good stoppage not sure what could've been done to prevent death. Always a risk getting into the ring which is why I don't call boxers cowards like many on this forum. You don't play boxing, and they are risking their lives when getting in the ring. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/boxi...ighter-and-leaving-him-in-critical-condition/
Khan and Brook are lucky, This young man lost his life fighting a guy his own size.. It's foolish making these jump up in weight fights with guys like Canelo and GGG they can kill a smaller guy.. RIP Mike
I wish the real cause of these incidental deaths could be determined did the fighter get a proper liscense to fight after passing physical did the corner watch their fighter careful enough to determine well being did the fighter stop protecting himself and the ref allowed too much damage boxing has to figure this out.
Cannot disagree with this, hope we don't see it again although I know Canelo would love the Manny fight if he could, the weight alone would be huge?
This is a reminder of what boxers put on the line for our entertainment. And why anyone cought cheating should face the harshest penalties.
