I really liked him. From everything I've read, he was a non-nonsense guy in and out of the ring.

    RIP Mills Lane

Perhaps the best ever ref in boxing. He will be remembered fondly, an absolute legend. RIP to the great man himself.

    Lets get it on!!

RIP to one of the best referees of all time, i always remember in the Tyson vs Holyfield ear bite fight. He tried to over rule the commission and get Tyson DQ'ed instantly. And then when Tyson tried make an excuse he said straight to Tyson's face "Bull****". Which i thought was quite brave after what Tyson had just done. He definitely was a take charge type of guy i remember Larry Holmes saying Mills Lane was his favourite referee.

I appreciated his severity when a boxer abused clinches like Bruno here:

With him Klitschko vs Povetkin would not have been possible.

Fun fact, there was a double KD from the last fight of his refereeing career:

    It's extremely rare.

If you think it wasn't possible with him refereeing, try watching the Pernell Whitaker v Azumah Nelson fight.

Not the place to express it I agree but it's what I remember him for. Two different fights, two completely different set of rules based on nothing more than the nationality of the fighters involved. I do appreciate that he was a highly regarded & respected referee who loved the sport as we all do. RIP Mills Lane.
