Might not be particularly famous outside Nottingham England but just heard in local rag that Wally Swift has passed - my dad (god rest his soul), who grew up in the same area as him used to talk about him all the time - knew him quite well and always said he was a great little fighter and a really good guy - dad passed away a couple of years back but it would've saddened him a lot to hear of Wally's death - rest in peace Wally Swift and thoughts to his family and relatives you were never forgotten around here

Yes, very sad news. I spent the day with Johnny Pritchett last week and in talking asked him who was the best he fought. He said Wally Swift, John won the British Middleweight title from Wally who had also been British Welterweight title. Both of them were Nottingham lads.
    RIP Champ.

Very sad. There's a snippet of him on youtube against Mick Leahy iirc. RIP.

Wally Swift,George Aldridge,Cowboy McCormack,Harry Scott,Mick Leahy all gave great accounts of themselves with some of the real dangermen of the day, most fought each other also.RememberWally as very skillfull.Once read that hed said his son was better than he was.Although a fine fighter himself, maybe Wally Junior would say the opposite.A great boxer.
