suprised theres only 13 posts up here on a all time legend , yet if green stubs his little toe or mundine gets a cold , tossers come out from everywhere crapping on . this bloke was beating ali easily before he got careless and waged titanic rumble wars with foreman and shavers - the 2 hardest hitters of all time , more credit is due.
I'm not mate. A lot of people who post on here aren't really boxing fanatics. I'd seriously doubt many on here had actually heard of him. Sad but true. I got his book last Xmas. Going to finally start reading it now in light of his passing.
yeah ippy , reckon you got ron lyle very close to his standing on your list of the great heavys , 37 is lyles ranking alright , christ luck does play out alot in world championship level and not only in the ring but when you were born and in what era you hiy your prime as a fighter - fancy hitting your straps when ali , foreman , shavers , frazier , holmes , young , quarry and norton were duking it out for the big strap . talk about unlucky - today lyle woulda fought both klits numerous times and made hundreds of millions
Will always remember the slugfest between Lyle & Foreman...........now that was a heavyweight fight for the ages. An absolute classic! RIP Ron thanks for the memories.
****en hell.......:-( how tough were those two?? how fit were they!!?? they were like a couple of busy welters slugging it out, except they were two of histories hardest hitters! what heart. no wonder that group of men were considered the best ever.....wow!
my oh my what a trio of absolute beasts Lyle, Foreman and Shavers were. Seen a decent fistful of HW fights (mainly 90's), Smokin' Joe has always been my favourite HW. But in general always preferred watching the smaller fellas duking it out to give much too much time to watching the HWs. I feel i've been a little enlightened today.
