A crowd pleaser no doubt about that.

    Freddie Little proved otherwise! ;)

Solid, beat a few decent contenders and us Brits could never get one over him, and for once that was not down to dodgy decisions.

Took advantage of the junior divisions, to the point that I suspect he would be in the top best home based Italian fighters pound for pound of the Queensberry rules era.

Little beat his ass like a drum. He couldnt miss, dropped him, and busted Mazzinghi's face up like a rotten tomato. Between the 8th and 9th rounds the ringside doctor stopped the fight because Mazzinghi had a huge cut via a punch by Little. Little was announced the winner of the contest but then the inept and crooked referee stepped in and declared the fight a no-contest. His reason was that in European championship fights if a bout is stopped before the half way mark it was declared a no-contest. None of this made any sense because the bout wasnt stopped before the halfway point and this bout wasnt being officiated under European rules as it was a WORLD title fight. Tomser's explanation was that "the eighth round is still halfway to me." Even the Italian public thought it was ridiculous, called it a scandal, and denounced it. Mazzinghi was ordered to give Little a rematch and refused knowing he'd get that ass beat again. So he was stripped of his title and Little fought Kitten Hayward for the vacant title. Mazzinghi was a good fighter though and he happens to be the victim of one of the best KO's Ive ever seen when Benvenuti landed a perfectly timed uppercut/bolo punch in their first fight and dropped him like hed been shot.

Do not need too! Thanks Klompton

As Klompton hints at, the crowd turned on Mazzinghi the situation was that farcical.
