RIP Champ. Naturally everyone remembers his terrific war with Seabrooks. Wonderful fight. Looked like he wasn´t going anywhere after when he got shockingly koed by light punching future World champ Fabrice Benichou in his next fight. Another loss (ko by 6) to sharp punching Venezuelan Jose Sanabria (gave a young Gatti hell over 12) in another World title tilt looked like curtains for him. But the talented southpaw ran up 7 straight victories before taking on former World Flyweight champ (and future Bantam and Super-Bantam champion) Duke McKenzie. McKenzie fought well but Thierry fought brilliant to nearly stop the Brit and pound him in the latter rounds for a clear decision win and the EBU title. Soon after he faced Mexican warrior supreme, Daniel Zaragoza(former Bantam champ and 2 time Super Bantam titilist). Thierry boxed to perfection to champion to finally become WBC Super-bantam champion. Zaragoza would go on to win another World title and score his biggest wins before Erik Morales finally retired him. He was only champion for 3 months before Tracy Patterson´s right hands destroyed him. He was a terrific warrior who gave us some wonderful fights and it is a real shame he died so young. Bloody cancer.
Terrible news. Cancer takes away yet another great, all-action fighter this year (the other being Israel Vazquez). RIP Champ
Wow I had no idea about Israel! I usually read Wikipedia's recent deaths page every day for updates on celebrity deaths, but that one just flew over my head! I think Vazquez should be in the IBHOF, if Rafael Marquez is....and he was one of my favorite all action fighters...his fights with Larios and with Marquez were unreal! RIP champ!
