His call of Tyson v Holyfield I is miles above the regular Showtime call of that fight. I think those in the States really missed out on that one. Him screaming "We have a new Heavyweight champion of the world... Can you believe it.... Do you believe it?!!". Iconic but not extremely well known.

RIP to a great boxing commentator. Always liked hearing his calls on fights. His reaction to Buster Douglas KOing Mike Tyson was iconic.

He would have died a happy man as far as being a boxing fan. Presented so many great moments in the sport. Especially for us Aussies/Kiwis.

There was once proof that even gods walked among men. But now that proof is gone. RIP, Col.

Highly underrated and did commentary on many of the big boxing events of a generation or two (or three). Never mailed it in, always came prepared with his homework done and never lacking for enthusiasm or energy.

The Colonel was a credit to the sport.

His dedication was unmatched: Had a heart attack and checked into a hospital but checked himself out against medical advice so he could call Holyfield-Tyson. Then went back to the hospital after.

I just now learned from scanning his wiki that he attended the University of Miami on a baseball scholarship and played in the minor leagues for a bit.

#RIP Mr. Sheridan. You are missed.

And he was my favorite commentator since the first Tyson vs Holyfeild fight.

Did we ever determine if that was his voice in the Sarah Palmer scene from Twin Peaks?
At the time I was damn near certain it had to be, but I never found confirmation of that, which left me unsure if it could have been an impersonator. Forget if I ever asked you that before.
