God Speed https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/68802314 Terrible news Remember his Khan fight what a tussle.
RIP, terrible news. Although I do fear that when the dust settles, it's going to come out that it was due to a sparring injury. After all, he fell ill when preparing for yet another fight on May 3rd, at the age of 45.As much as I hate to say this, aspects of Boxing are really in need of stricter regulations.
Damn... very sad news. Always remember him as the guy giving a young Amir Khan a tough battle. Also had a pretty good fight against an aging Erik Morales. RIP Champ
Awful. Way too young to go. I also remember watching a bunch of his fights. He was a gutsy warrior. RIP
Can't restrict ppl's right to train and sparring is where most brain damage occurs. Constantly getting blunt hits on the headgear is particularly nasty as damage accumulates according to some studies so you may skip sanctioned fights and still suffer severe brain trauma. Then there are unsanctioned exhibitions so there's not much regulators can do other than education on health risks and importance of early detection. Of course these bodies are dependent on related incomes so they won't shoot themselves in the foot by arguing that boxing is health risk, which it is. I partially stopped following it due to health concerns - add politics, robberies, marinating and entitled fighters never taking risks and boxing deserves to die. Boxers don't.
Heart of a warrior, thanks for the memories, hoping beyond hope the seizure was not boxing related. Rest in Peace Champ.
