If we're, on a sidebar, talking rivalries that started before the pros but not in a boxing ring in the amateurs - such as DLH vs. El Feroz - then we can't forget Antonio Escalante vs. Micky Roman, whose thrilling FNF main event resulted in a UD for Escalante. Roman had kicked Escalante's butt on the streets when they were kids in Ciudad Juarez.
Bogdan Dinu beat Christian Hammer 3x in the amateurs, could be a fight that happens next year if Hammer decides to man up. Unlikely, but plausible. Hammer will probably be chasing bigger fights, and staying busy so he keeps his high rating. Not much in it for him to face an unheralded fighter in Dinu, who more than likely has his #
Brahmer beat Froch in the amateurs, and is thinking about dropping down to SMW. Not a very appealing fight for casual fans who probably don't know who Brahmer is, but it would be an interesting fight if it were to take place.
Is that true IB, regarding Oscar leaving Fernando in the snow? Don't forget about Roy and Antonio Tarver. :good
Fernando claimed it for years. Oscar always said he didn't have any recollection of it. Probably happened. Oscar's a jerk. :yep
:good Regarding Roy and Tarver, I think they fought in 1982 at 13, in the Sunshine State games. Roy won a decision.
This content is protected Izon beat Tua in 1992 in the Olympics in Barcelona, going on to capture a silver medal. Tua stopped Izon late in a twelve round war in 1996, with barely over a minute left. (Tua would have won a majority decision otherwise)
This one is hard to call... Abner Mares went 2-1 over friend & roommate Yonnhy Perez in the amateurs. They drew in the pros. :think
Jimmy Ellis vs Muhammad Ali (Cassius Clay) Ellis beat Ali (Clay) in the amatuers. Ali beat Ellis in the pros.
