:huh? seriously? Aren't they both filipinos and ****? Any idea why?

I remember their match for qualifiers, Atlas was commentating and was all over Viloria's **** cus apparently he had the more "pro suited style" which is funny cus Nonito is by far the more successful pro and Viloria the better amateur.

Amnat Ruenroeng beat Kazuto Ioka in the amateurs years ago.

Ruenroeng beat Ioka by split decision earlier this year to retain his IBF title.

Was brought up a couple times in the build up to their fight last year, 2013:

Devon Alexander officially beat Shawn Porter when they were like 8 years old at a county fair amateur tournament in Ohio.

Porter upset and beat Alexander by wide UD for Alexanders' IBF welterweight title.

They are both Filipino American. Part of their enmity stems from how "real" each of them keeps it with being proud of their roots...

Also, both Donaire brothers were defeated by Viloria in the Olympic trials in 2000. (remember, Glenn and Nonito were equally hyped - and relevant - until Nonito broke onto the scene with his upset of Darchinyan)

There is well over a decade's worth of he said this, he said that drama between them

I cannot believe noone has mentioned Lewis vs Bowe for Gold in 1988.
    Lewis wins the Gold.

Bowe still sulks about it a ducks Lewis in the Pro's even drops the wbc belt in the trash rather than face him again.

Dariusz Michalczewski beat Fabrice Tiozzo in the quarter finals of the 1986 European Junior Championships as an amateur but was stopped by him in his final ever pro bout.

Escandón beat Cave in 2004 in the Olympic Qualifiers in Brazil to deny him a berth in Athens.

Escandón beat Cave by SD in 2014.

    Both, however, are considered robberies.

Just found out Takuma Inoue and Kosei Tanaka fought 5 times in the ams (Tanaka winning 3-2), they are surely going to clash in the pros too...

Lennox always had Bowes # best of all Bowe & Newman knew it. Newman as good as admitted it when he said in Dallas " Why risk it all against Lewis when folk will buy Dokes & Ferguson with no risk & good $$$$" Their rivalry was a precedent to Floyd-Manny. The so called champ knew he couldn't beat his nemesis:patsch
