Strange fight it felt like whenever Rivas decided to punch he kicked whytes ass but just couldn't sustain anything

He took off two full rounds after dropping whyte.

Powerful but limited. Do respect his ability to punch with power late in a fight and has the resolve to rally when trailing

I think it's impossible to come away from this fight not gaining a massive respect for Rivas's heart and determination. I thought the comeback in the Jennings fight was a bit of a fluke, but clearly not, as he nearly repeated the performance again against Whyte. Regarding his skills I have mixed opinions. The times Whyte boxed behind his jab Rivas didn't look like he could do anything at all. It was when Whyte tried to turn the fight into more of a tearup that Rivas was able to have most success. He seems to have the right instincts for an ambush fighter, someone who can lull you into a certain rhythm then explode out of nowhere with huge damaging punches. Against someone like Fury Rivas would have no chance, but against anyone else he's a very dangerous proposition.

Superman traps or not, Whyte hits very hard in a variety of shots and most men would have quit from that punishment, so any lesser puncher like Usyk Hunter Pulev etc would struggle to dent this guy or keep Rivas from walking them down. Whyte kept Rivas honest from round three.

Besides are you forgetting the body punishment???? Whyte landed over 50 solid.... SOLID hooks to the body in the exact same location... Rivas didnt like it and he slowed down.... but again those woukd have stopped MANY, Fury or Wilder would not withstand those, Rivas is built like a tank quite literally[/QUOTE]

You definitely watched the wrong fight, go watch it again in 1080p

Rivas followed up on everything, what else did you want him to do???? Tag team his Dad jn? And pull out a machete???? Whyte was not that hurt from the Knockdown it was a flash knockdown. Rivas still went in for the kill and Whyte weathered it and fired back to win the round.

Whyte merely showed more class. But don’t act like Rivas didn’t sustain because he did his ‘Jennings 12th round flurry’ MANY TIMES throughout the fight since Rivas’ trainer started getting very vocal and aggressive.

“Are you ****ing serious right now?!?!?!?!?” Like in round 6

Whyte's stock went up more as he won the fight. Rivas walks away with some kudos for dropping Whyte and being competitive for 12 but he hasn't really enhanced his status as a contender aside from being a guy who might become a cherry pick defense for one of the big four down the line.

I sure as hell wouldn't cherrypick Rivas if I was a champ. The man's dangerous.

Solid fighter and definitely carries some threat so a valid opponent but not so dangerous that he needs to be mando to get a shot. I'd rate him slightly under Ruiz pre Joshua and he was supposed to be a straight forward defense for the AJ.

I don't doubt you saw it with your own eyes, I am just saying your brain did not process the information properly. It happens.

Rivas moved better against Whyte than Parker did, Parker merely popped his head backwards to suppress shots, Rivas was dipping in and out completely, and using lateral movemen, he dodged Whyte's left hooks VERY well, VERY effectively leaving no doubt that it was measured, calculated and trained for as part of his game plan execution.

It's not like Whyte has a hard time landing his illusive left hooks, he did set them up, and he did throw it plenty... Rivas just displayed EXCELLENT timing, and reflexes to move his LARGE frame out of the way in GOOD time. This is what my brain processed.

Lucky for Whyte, he hits hard with various shots, which is what I said from the beginning, and what sets him apart from the Wilders and the Fury's and the AJ's is that he has a versatile arsenal with which to hurt opponents.

Jab, Body work and right cross... all lethal from Whyte... as he has displayed unequivocally.. and to which I have asserted for months upon months.

Well, what's his route to get a mando spot? I don't see a route for him. He just lost the WBC spot, Usyk and Pulev have IBF and WBO. WBA he's down an #7 and that was pre the loss last night. If he's to get a shot it will be as a late cherry pick like Ruiz was supposed to be.

But who is going to pick him? Who out there would be willing to do that realistically? You see how Takam took AJ the distance?

Yeah Rivas is a younger Takam on steroids, who spent ten years with Colombian gang members to mould him into the ruthless killer that he is, and then he boxed 200 amateur fights to make full use of his Mr Olympia body.

This is not a guy you cherry pick.

Fury would fight him tomorrow if he was bankable on ESPN and you know it. BTW he just LOST a clear decision against Dillian Whyte however you want to hype his ass.

Fury has no desire to fight hard tick over fights, or hard defences. He wants easy shots at the belt, and easy ways of defending just like Wilder.

Actions speak louder than words, and internet forum talk - and Fury has made it clear with his actions that the above statement is true. Schwarz?? Pfahahahahah

He has a few fights left on his contract with ESPN prior to his planned retirment, and have you seen the shitty names mentioned on the fight list? Rest my case.

Rivas/Takam would be a great undercard fight for a PPV.
