Young rocked in the opening minute! Walked straight into a series of counter hooks and overhand rights from Gomes. I'm not sure what Young is even attempting here, but he's pushing straight in on Gomes, barely even jabbing, no plan, and just gobbling up power shots from the South African. 90 seconds in and Young is on jelly legs taking a beating. The commentators (Claudia Trejo, Barak Bess, and a yet unidentified play by play man) are all surprised there's no standing eight. A few more hairy moments, Young exhibiting no self-defense, and he goes down...and Mr. Flórián has seen enough.

    TKO1!

What an absolute disaster of a showing for DDY. Trejo is roasting him for not just swallowing his pride and taking a knee during that painfully long beatdown.

Team USA is whittled down to now 3 members in the running, as Gomes advances into the semis to await the winner of Krnjić vs. Rogava in the next QF.

Lacz, looks like he is getting the better of it here. But yeah these guys are a bit small for heavyweights. I like some of the bodywork by Ramirez though.

Commentators treating Ramírez like the underdog on the basis of "Argentinians usually aren't very successful at heavyweight".

They were trading heavy body shots throughout R1 but Łącz managed to push Ramírez across the ring for most of it. 10-9 Łącz

Ramírez still letting himself get walked into the ropes, but he's landing some powerful multiples in reverse. Double hook, uppercut, hook, all thudding through on Łącz loudly. Left hook on the body, doubled up, uppercut. Nice stuff by K-Ram.

    19-19

    WBC open scoring:

Łącz up 20-19 on a single card (meaning that judge scored the second round even), and the other two have it level 19 apiece giving Ramírez the round outright. Barak says the latter is the correct score.

The scorecards probably reflect how I see this fight so far.

I think Ramirez might have this in the second half of the fight if he doesn't get caught. Lacz looks to be tiring while Ramirez is still landing body shots and growing more into the fight.

K-Ram by a hair, 29-28. As we learned versus Milun, though, Łącz is dangerous - so there's a lot of road left to ramble down.
