Gomes is on this side of the bracket, set to face the winner of Krnjić vs. Rogava in the semis. The winner of the last QF after this (Baalla vs. Stone) will face Ramírez.

 

I'm shocked how much fitter Krnjić is...

He's taller but only by 1½″, and wearing 18¾lbs more than Rogava while looking like an athlete... whereas Rogava looks like a dumpy wino they pulled in off the street.

 

Dumpy and packing a spare tire or no, the Georgian-Ukrainian is actually boxing quite well in the first 2 rounds.

I really dig that the WBC uses "green and gold corner" in lieu of red & blue.

And that all the fighters wear trunks with their country's flag colors.

I mark the hell out for little details like that.

 

Would we consider this an upset, if Rogava gets the nod (as it seems like he ought to, if things continue as they have through four) ?

Maybe we shouldn't... Rogava had quite the amateur record, beating guys like Viktor Vykhryst and Clemente Russo and holding Bakhodir Jalolov to a SD in their rematch.

Feels like there was more hype around Krnjić.

I think Rogava should have this. It wasn't a blowout every round, but really don't think we need even bother with enhanced scoring for this one. He just landed more, in the first four especially before it devolved into a clinch-fest. Krnjić was maybe hoping for a one-shot KO but didn't invest enough work for it.

Gomes vs. Krnjić should be fun. Gomes has a big punch of his own, but also has a KO loss (to Shaun Potgieter) so it'll be a firefight that likely won't go 6.
