RJ...1988...right before Olympic Trials...

Gerald was there with us for that came but he couldn't spar, he told me himself, because his jaw was still sore from the fight with Roy that took place about 4 weeks earlier. RJ was sparring with myself and Ray Lathon. Sugar Ray was there watching us every day and 1968 Olympic coach Pappy Gault was giving us tips,etc. Ray's brother Roger was helping, to and a guy from Maryland named Ben getty (he used to train Vince Pettway from what I remember). Also...FYI...Roy's dad has the video tape of RJ and Ray sparring and I told him a couple years ago that the video could bring him some real money from collectors online but he seemed to have no interest, though....knowing Big Roy I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't even know exactly where it was in the house. He has seen everything in RJ's development over the years andeven though fans would SERIOUSLY love seeing it, I think to him the sparring was no big deal at all.

This was actually from the same camp... of course my guy put the clips of me doing good LOL ...We sparred several times and we both had our days and moments... I wish my coach at the time videotaped EVERYTHING and I have no idea why he only got two rounds

LOL, hey my man, yup, it's me LOL. I like to check out these boards...real cool to meet fans, other boxers,etc. Man...you'd be surprised at the number of boxers not only on AOL (the service I am on) but who come in and check boards like these.

 

I am training some good amateurs plus some solid pros like Matt Godfrey (NABF cruiser champ), former USBA 135 champ Pito Cardona, USBA 122 champ Mike Oliver and former WBA 154 champ Jose Rivera. Doing pretty good. Still sparring as much as I can, too (did 16 rounds about four days ago). Doing good, my man. What about you...where u from??
