I think Charles, Foster, and Spinks all beat him at 175. But that isn't to say Roy didn't have the ability to beat them either - I just wouldn't favor him.
Most of the guys you just named were natural LHW's. Just like the ones listed in the thread. Some fighters are just better than Jones at this weight. It takes nothing away from the contender and championship level fighters he beat.
Bob Foster-to tall to strong for RJJ, he eventuially would succumb to the power of Foster...Foster's underated jab will kepp RJJ at bay until the innevitable KO in the late to rounds....11 or so.. Ezzard Charles-strong at LHW, had the skills the movement and the heart pack a solid punch always fighting bigger opponents..RJJ would have problems with the skillfull Charles....Charles by UD Michael Spinks- the 6'-3" Spinks , great jab and skills woould out point for an easy UD or potential TKO for accumulation over RJJ Archie Moore-was a freak of nature, strong, can hit strong chin had was as tenacious of a boxer as you can find...Archie Moore drop Marciano and he would drop RJJ also...Moore by KO
This content is protected This content is protected Ezzard Charles dominated bigger man was slick can punch and has as much movement as Glencoffe and punch harder than Glencoffe...RJJ would not beat Charles...He dominated Moore 3 times..who IMO would KO RJJ....please.....
I would say all three beat him... but there's no shame in that, because all 3 are top 5 LHWs. Foster and Spinks would probably stop him, but Charles would outpoint him.
I know, but Charles had the wood over Moore stylistically. Moore arguably would have a case for number 1 at LHW if it weren't for Charles beating up on him 3 times. But really, Charles didn't have great power. He had good power, but nothing to write home about. I think Jones could survive, but lose a UD.
I know he desicion him twice and KO him in the 5th in the last fight...Charles pulverized RJJ weak chin....not doubt....like I said he KO Moore who was a tough "hombre"..in fact not that many LHW were able to KO Moore
Definately. However Charles wasn't a KO artist, regardless of how accurate he was. I just don't think he would stop RJJ, though I can envision it.
Again RJJ has a questionable chin, I disagree with you about Charles power since he consistently fought bigger men, once he fought people on his weight range he KO them....so with Charles KO record is deseaving...he was not a Foreman, but he was not a soft pucher either..but he was economical and efficient
