It really feels like Ward's legacy is a weird place and I don't know if that's his fault. It really sucks that he has two extremely huge wins but doesn't get credit for them (rightly or wrongly that's up to you). I feel like once the dust settles down a bit he'll go up in the ratings.
@greynotsoold 5:52 listen to what Ward and RJJ say about how they’d fight, you’ve said a lot of similar things on how to approach RJJ, RJJ breaks his own style down very consciously and Ward raises a lot of good points.
I think Prime Roy would have beat Ward as convincingly as he beat Toney. Ward is a HOF, Roy is an ATG.
Andre Ward was one of those guys that were able to move in a separate gear ... very few fighters that I've seen have had it , maybe Jack Johnson, Pernell Whitaker, to a degree Hopkins , guys like that ... Andre was very very special ... that said, I just don't see him at the level of a prime 168 Jones.
Great video, I watched the whole thing. I liked hearing RJJ talk about fighting inside and liking it. RJJ is a guy everyone thinks about as just a super talent, but he knows boxing. Watching AW fight, I don't know what could be done to make him better, hard worker, excellent fighter, coachable, intelligent. If you were AW's trainer, what could you do for an encore? You'd probably never get a guy who makes you look so good again. i suspect that AW is more athletic than we think.
