RJJ apart, is Joe Calzaghe the best fighter Hopkins will have faced?

    WTF are you smoking mate.

Trinidad was a great performance and I rate the win highly. But to say that Tito at 160 was as good a fighter as Calzaghe at 175 is ****ing insane given that Tito was a natural 147 lber and JC is a large SMW.

Tito lost something coming up. He was never going to be as devastating taking on a big MW like Hopkins. Couple that with the fact that hes never been the most slick fighter to offset his power being reduced then you have to say he is not the same fighter as he is at 147.

That won't happen to Calzaghe. There is no size, no strength none of that sort of advantage for Hopkins. Factor in that Calzaghe is far and away a superior BOXER to Tito and you have to say that JC is the bigger threat to Hopkins at 175.

Unless you are a blind hater like yourself of course.

    Who had Lacy beaten?

    Isn't hindsight great !

Here's what most commentators thought on Lacy's side of the Atlantic:

Tonight and tonight only, at MEN Arena in Manchester, England two unbeaten bad boys break out into battle live on Showtime 9 PM ET/PT to see who will reign victoriously. Hard hitting IBF/IBO super middleweight champion Jeff Lacy 21-0 (17) looks to lay some hurting on the hometown veteran and WBO super middleweight champ Joe Calzaghe 40-0 (31) in his backyard. A fight night to remember! Will youth serve the ‘Left Hook’ well or will the pugilistic pedigree of the ‘Pride of Wales’ come out victorious? For now see what the writers of the Doghouse had to say on the subject.

11 - 2 they picked Jeff, and that was the general consensus.

Tarver would have KO'd Joe after playing basketball badly all day long .. lol

Joe is the best he's ever been today ... because he has always punched like a weak Winky Wright ... today he is equal to Winky Wright .. that's about it

Trinidad was a big favourite at the time. The fact that Hopkins handled him easily doesn't make the win any less impressive.

By the way Trinidad as a bigger favourite than Calzaghe is now.

I already know all this you prat when have I said otherwise. You even posted in my Calzaghe - Hopkins thread on the Brit forum.

You are implying that im acting as a revisionist and demeaning Trinidad on the basis of Hopkins domination when im not.

Im simply pointing out that Trinidad at 160 was not as good a figther as Joe is at 175.

Regardless of what the bookies think.

    (I) Know he doesn't hit hard ... took about ten thousand clean punches on Lacy and Kessler is another overrated wuss. Joe punches like a malnourished blood donor before his orange juice.

Hopkins has fought more than his share of bums but Joe Protected is not better than maybe a dozen of his opponents ... Joe In The Plastic Bubble has feasted on limited Euro bums and old men for his entire career ... careful matchmaking is certainly his claim to fame ... Joe punches wide and weak.

Can't blame James ... he figured a limited, muscle-bound Lacy should be able to handle a ***** puncher like Calzaghe even in front of 50,000 of his fans ... Lacy was just worse then he figured ... 99 times out of 100 his opinion that these Euro bums can't fight would be quite accurate .. what's the point? Toney could beat Joe's ass while juggling a big mac and shake at the same time ... one guy is an ATG ... the other is Joe In The Protected Bubble ... one guy is legendary for fighting the biggest, toughest guys in every gym in the US, the other is known for hometown judges, predisposed refs, and slapping.

Using logic I've seen by Calaghe backers....the answer is NO.

Hops gets no credit for beating TIto, since he moved up in weight. Same as Joe is doing.

Hops gets no credit because Joe hasn't done **** @ 175. And Joe gets no credit, because he's SUPPOSED to win easily. ESB in a nutshell....
