Power as it if you had a punching bag with a machine which measures power Ruiz would be ahead, but Tarver is quicker and will land sharper punches. Ruiz was not a great heavyweight. I never saw that win by Roy as a great win. Very expected.

Toney was always erratic. Remember that Dave Tiberi guy almost beat James? I think Tarver was sharper than James when he knocked out Roy, but I do think the younger Roy would have beaten Tarver that night. But Toney was erratic and in my mind that is what hurts his legacy. He was not a great fighter all the time and really does not have great wins against legends. Jones has some good win like Toney, Hopkins and Hill. Toney was the most prime. Hopkins was still a little green and Hill was over the hill a little, but the still beat them-so Jones beat 3 HOF guys. Not bad really. I would put Tito in there if Tito had a belt, but Tito came out of retirement with no belt and no proof he was still a viable fighter.

Roy is one of the biggest reasons I got into Boxing. He's one of the athletes I look up to most and has thrilled me and millions of others over the years. He'll ALWAYS be #1 P4P to me.

Thank you. I am thinking about it but Jones legacy is Hopkins,Toney and Hill and then beating Ruiz and his lightheavyweight reign. Really a good legacy once I break it down in my mind. I always say in other posts that beating the HOF greats are what makes a guy great and he did beat 3 of them, which is better than many guys who are in the HOF. Beating those 3 guys right there is an accomplishment. Not many guys could do it. Just beating Hopkins and Hill, Jones beat 2 guys who combined have near 50 world title fights. So Jones should have a pretty good place in history. Hopkins will also. Toney? He will but not like those two guys. Jones and Hopkins were the cream of the crop of the 1990s and this decade. I feel sorry for James. He put a lot into boxing but lacked the consistency of Jones and Toney. I would love to see Hopkins move up and fight Toney at heavyweight. It would complete the circle.

I know how you feel. I felt that way about Thomas Hearns. He is the reason why I got into boxing. It was about him personally and how he was as a person. When he lost it was pretty hard. It is difficult to admire a boxer and see them lose.
