I strongly disagree that he would be favor in all fights, please:

Marvin Johnson would pick him appart in similar fashion that Tarver did in the first fight until he got tired of pounding of Roy;s face...

Michael Spinks to good to tall for RJJ end of story...he would beat RJJ 9 of 10 or maybe 10 of 10

Dwight Qawi, to ****ing strong for RJJ ...the guy was an animal...dude..did you watch him fight at 175lbs in his prime...

Mate Parlow was a slick mother ****er, he knew all the tricks, he was slick fast and southpaw a recipe for trouble ....

    Galindez, to strong, to powerful....'

These guys were not the chumps on RJJ resume, this guy were world class fighter that came to fight, they fought the best not chumps all of them did....please KG I know you are not ignorant...I ask you if you watch this fighters fight at their prime...yes or no...this is a good starting point for this discussion, if you didn;t them said so, and then I would asy well get some of their fights watch them and them we talk when we both have the same data to start with, but if you never watch Galindez, or Qawi, or Eddy Mustafa Muhammad, or Parlow or any of them youa re talking from your ass...

Tarver didn't pound that face....he got outboxed in the middle of the ring. You probably think Jones lost the first fight.

All you give for reasons is too strong too powerful.

Well here is my reasoning for everyfighter you throw up.

Jones was faster then every 175lber. And they all fought no one like Jones. Jones could lead with anything and land big. Jones was also very strong and very powerful.

So. Jones wins cause hes way faster and way smarter. Im done. Cause whatever I say you will say is wrong. No matter the facts, you always look at when RJJ lost instead of when he was dominating fighters.

IM going back to watching football. Peace.

And right there in my response is the answer. Are you blind?

There is no point in the discussion. I already read your opinion. You already read mine. Nothing you say is going to change my mind, and you only want to hear my opinion to disagree with it.

Like I said, it's telling that you use the Jones from the end of his career to compare to these fighters.

That's your answwer when you have absolutely no knowledge of whom we are talking about here....you like many other RJJ fans take it all personal, is not...this is simple about boxing and for that matter world class boxing...all this guys they were gret amateurs some of them won gold , silver and bronze in the olympics, others were not so lucky yet they were olympians for their countries......and you , becase you don;t want to admit that you know who they are you choose to ignored the factual issues of the boxers that historically gave trouble to RJJ for one reason or another and desided that is it is not relevant..styles makes fights....and the styles of these guys didn't favor RJJ ....

hell even at his prime as a LHW the styles were not a good match for RJJ....that's what I am saying...in all honesty I bleive taht Glencoff andTarver would ahve beaten RJJ during any period of his LHW career

I am not taking anything personal. The only person getting upset and talking about how ignorant people are is you. You are taking it personal. I simply don't care to continue pointless debates.

Let me point this out to you. You ask me if I know who they are. I say yes, and you call me a liar because I disagree with you. You aren't looking for debate, but someone to agree with you. I don't. If you need validation, find it elsewhere..

    Great Thread:good

This was one of the toughest eras at 175 besides the 40's-50's. Jones had a shot of taking care of some business but he wouldnt get away unscathed.

Victor Galindez: In Jones prime he'd be too fast, to slick and would outland to Galindez who had underrated skills and overrated punching power. Jones UD.

Yaqui Lopez: Outside this era he'd have definitely been a champion. He was tall, tough as nails, and had good power.Altough tough he cut often and stopped against the best he fought. Was made to order for Jones though who dominated slow fighters with average defensive skills. Jones UD or late stoppage.

Matthew Saad Muhammad: Tough as nails, great right hand, and power, greatest will to when Ive seen besides say Holyfield. He was very hittable but showed great recovery powers and a solid chin. Skills speed and power in one fighter troubled him.Jones would be landing to easy not to win this one although Saad will be pressing the whole way Jones UD.

    the rest to come

I tell you what knowing who they were and watching them fight are tow separate things....knowing who they are is like saying, yes I hear their names....did you watch them fight.....any of them ...I know you haven't that much is clear to me...since you have not one indication that you did...

I clearly stated my opinion on the way I would see these fights go with what I saw and know of these boxers including your boy, and I am telling you that the styles would not favor RJJ...if they did...they proof me wrong rather than spin and talk rethoric that in all honesty is a shield for your lack of knowledge on any of these fighter on this era.....

For Starters Spinks at 6'-3" and great boxing skills along with a solid jab wil keep RJJ at bay the entire night hell Spinks was not passive minded Ruiz, if you want to use that as an example, you are talking at ATG LHW ..vs a avearge low class HW..

Qawi, well you want to use the Holy fights a barometer, well Holy was the bigger manon this fight he was the true Cruiser weight and Qawi was a true LHW going to CW .....now Holy got hit with some hilacious punches but took them because he was the natural bigger man and it is Holy a toughman with a gret chin....RJJ is another story....

The southpaws Johsnson and Parlow both are bigger men also, and could handle the speed of RJJ.....

And to EZE..no I didn;lt think that Tarver won the first fight he gave up the champiuonship rounds and he lost for that reason, he ran out of gas...it cost him the desicion...but he abused RJJ, it was the first beting he has taken...even tho0ugh he won he took a beating

Galindez didn't have overated power, his power was prooven, and he had far better skills that you mentioned, he was tought as nails...I still think that RJJ would ahve had atought time handling the constant pressure....
Respect your analysis, thou...don;lt agree but at least you are using what you know to talk about the bouts..

Yaqui Lopez, I agree other than this era he would have been a LHW champ, tough as nails and can hit like a bag of brick....

you mentioned he was hittable, well taht go for all fo them since I clearly mentioned that all of them love to mixed , they came to fight all of them were great inside fighters...all of them can take a punch also, this were big big LHW...

We both agree on Mathew Franklyn and RJJJ.....

    RJJ win against:

Mike Rossman-Rossman would ahve a punchers chances agasint RJJ, I beleive he would get tire of chasing RJJ the entire night....and lose by accumulation of punches RJJ by late TKO..but RJJ better be aware of Rossman power on both hands

John Conteh: Yet another bomber that would have trouble handling RJJ speed, I see this fight going the same as Rossman , RJJ by TKO by accumulation of punches last

Mathew Saad Muhammad: RJJ would fair well agiant Mathew SAAD, he like to mixed it up and could be hit, still had the power, as a Philly fighter he brought it on every fight...tougght win for RJJ but a win...againt potentially by TKO by accumulation

    Pick'n:

Mate Parlow: the only two reasons I would say that RJJ would ahve atougher time with Parlow are simple: 6'-2" and southpaw, he was a gold medalist in Munich for the LHW competiton, so he was and accomplished amateur...that made him extremelly slick and tricky he would ahve presented a challenge to RJJ, again for me to close to call..

Marvin Johnson: again tall 6'-0" southpaw, hit like a truck...I beleive that Marvin would have presented some issues in similar fashion to Tarver for RJJ.....again Pick'n..Marvin was not a defensive specialied he like to rumble so that's RJJ chances

Eddy Mustafa Muhammad-strong LHW at 6'-1" and power would ahve presented issues for RJJ to resolve...that he could outpointed possibly, RJJ would be on dire straits in few rounds....RJJ should win this fight, but is not a given

    RJJ at disadvantage:

Dwight Muhammad Qawi: even though he was short he was swarming, powerful and would not quite or go down...ask Michale Spinks is he was not tought or not, he was able to dominate taller opponents by pressure pure, pressure, with the cross arm defense and powerful lefthooks, Qawi would ahve made RJJ earn every round he won....I can see Qawi mand handling RJJ as he did Spinks...I like Qawi by TKO ...if you say well he had 11 loses, well I will tell you that most of them came at Cruiser weight, were he was substatially a smaller man at this weight class...

Michael Spinks: a tough, well schooled 6'-3" boxer that can punch, Spinks was the complete package at LHW, I can not see RJJ winning this fight on 9 out of 10 times.....sorry but I can't...Micahel brought to m uch to the table along with his height and reach adavantage...not a good match for RJJ

Victor Galindez- stacky powerfull tought Argentinian with a huge heart, and powrful right hand if it was not for two detach retina he would have stayed in the game longer..he was forced retiered from boxing ....RJJ would ahve trouble handling the constant pressure set by Galindez....

And that's the way I see it, at 5'-11" RJJ would have tought time handling the taller LHW and thestronger Qawi...that's the way I see it...

And this is not an attack on RRJ, I am applying from what I saw on each of this fighter who I watch them fight in numerous occassions as I did RJJ...Iam not just saying something for the sake of it like many of the ones that have posted on the thread...

Eddie Mustafa Muhammad: was a very good fighter, clever very good power and skills but a bit of an underachiever IMO. Had the overall skillset and strength to trouble Jones but Jones own speed and skills will be the difference. Would be very competitive but Jones would land the cleaner shots. Jones UD.

Marvin Johnson: He was one tough cookie. A soutpaw good combinations and decent speed. His power was good as well and he was a very good pressure fighter. His defense was leaky and Jones would be countering him with lead rights and uppercuts as he came forward. He'd land on Jones too but not often enough to hurt drop him. Effective pressure is the key and I dont see Johnson being able to sustain the high pace he needs while taking Jones best countershots and lead hooks....Jones SD

Michael Spinks: The greatest of this era and the best of the past 25 years. Spinks too tall, too skilled, and herky jerky. Jones will be in with someone as unorthodox as him but has a great jab....more power at lightheavyweight and a huge reach advantage. Prime Jones will have trouble getting inside and beating the jab and right hand. It will be nip and tuck because both were so skilled with pop. Spinks wins a close UD.

Dwight Muhammad Qawi: Great pressure fighter, underrated skills could bob and weave and counter and had good power. Whar troubled Qawi was faster hands and slicker fighters. If you stood and traded you were done for because he had the skills to the slip and thread the needle on the inside. Jones wouldnt fight there and would use his superior speed to outpoint muhammad who'd be pressuring and swinging the whole way through. Jones wont land as much as it seems but his flurries when the close rounds and Qawi will come on late....too late. Jones SD.

John Conteh....good all-arounder but a bit of an underachiever. Very good power and overall skillset but was missing that somethhing to make him a great fighter. Jones did everything he could do but better. Just a case of very good losing to a great fighter in competitive but clear UD for Jones.

Mike Rossman was very good and won and lost against some of the best of his era. I didnt see alot of him but he was very good. Jones would outspeed him to a UD.

Spinks and Qawi have the best shot at winning

Orisha you have a tendency to make a lot of threads about RJJ. You say this is an appreciation thread for this era, but the title, the stated purpose of the thread, and every one of your responses states otherwise.

We are just to assume that this thread is about the fighters of this era, and you just happened to pick Jones to throw into it out of pure consequence?

You dont like Roy, you think he is overated, and you have gone back to the era to pick fantasy matchups in which you can most easily discredit him.

Sure he does this on purpose but you must admit it is a good thread. I have always thought how'd he do in the 70's or in the 40's era that had Charles, Bivins, Marshall, and Moore.
