Big difference between calling someone out and actually fighting them.

    No.

Well, how can we say that Sugar Ray Robinson would have beaten Clottey when he never fought him? Based on his other wins against top opposition and the skills he showed in the ring. Same with Roy.

Nope, he never showed a weak chin in his prime. Not once. If anything, his chin seemed pretty decent to the limited extent which it had been tested.

Nunn and Jirov got beaten by Toney, who was Roy's best win at the lower weights. It would have been great if Roy and DM would have fought, but Roy looked more impressively against Hill and Griffin than DM. And who on that list beats Ruiz H2H?

When did Roy ever get stopped in his prime or come close to being stopped? Any flush punches he took, he took them well. He didn't have a granite jaw, but it never used to be 'terrible'. He used to spar with 230lb 6'4" HW Maurice Harris, explain that if he had a 'glass jaw'?

    Um...it was sparring.

    :hey

But I get your point and pretty much agree. Roy would have never get this much **** over his chin if he had retired after Ruiz or even Tarver I.

I think the worst is how people get on Roy's case for not fighting DM, when clearly DM had no interest in fighting him.

It may well be, but fighter's still get tagged in fights & in sparring. Roy's reflexes for the most part have helped him to avoid the overwhelming majority of big punches, but he's still human. He still get's caught with power punches from time to time, and that includes sparring. Why would he spar with a 6'4" 230lb heavyweight like Maurice Harris - who was a fairly decent puncher - if he was just going to get brutalized? He wouldn't, and he would be getting caught.

It's the same with the Ruiz fight. He might not be a concussive puncher at HW, but he's still a natural HW with a big natural size advantage over Roy. And Jones didn't get that often, but he still got caught. He took a few right hands from Ruiz and didn't budge, and bare in mind this is the same right hand that put Holyfield on his arse with a single shot.

you have to consider quality of opposition. While he did toy with some good guys I think SRL has a better legacy because he defeated better caliber of fighters. Maybe he struggled more than RJJ but they were against better opposition.

When Roy was at 168 there was talk about the division the same way we talk about welter weight today. Mcclellen, benn, eubank and Roy. Jc wasn't even in the convo back then. If u don't believe me look at the pre show to benn and gm. Benn effectively ended that after gm's brain went out. Eubank wanted no part of Roy and says so to this day. Dm is a different story. U can make the case for Roy ducking him by I disagree. Roy simply kept it movin when anybody showed resistance in signing to fight. He made his way all the way to heavyweight. Give the guy credit. He kicked alot of quality fighters though he had his share bums. He is without a doubt the best fighter I've seen with my own eyes.

i do not doubt that at all. I just wish boxers could leave the sport while on high. Prime RJJ is unstoppable and arguably the best to step the ring with likes of Ali.

No, you are just biased.... You blame Hbo and the contract that Roy signed???

Well right before Roy's last fight at SMW, Hbo set up a special interview in the ring and confirmed that just about every elite fighter at SMW were offered a contract to fight Roy... None excepted... Among the names were Nigel Benn and Frankie Liles.

There was a time when people did not want to fight Roy....

You discredit all of Roy's wins though, i have figured that out from your posts... You are way too biased, someone like you it is impossible to have an intelligent debate with.
