This actually also can be debated. Before Jones went to heavyweight and before he fought Tarver and Johnson he stopped Eric Harding who went 1-1 with Tarver, and also stopped Clinton Woods who went 1-1-1 with Johnson...

It is obvious to me that Roy declined very fast after moving down from Heavyweight, not that he started fighting good fighters and was beating up on nobodies for years.

    spot on :deal

that youtube clip was 3 mins 52 secs of jones knocking down civil servants.

he ducked the real challenges. mcllellan would have smashed roys glass jaw to smithernines. funny how roy was scared to go abroad and face the real challenges supposedly because he lost a fight as an amateur - very convenient excuse that. yet his fan boys on here swallow it whole and continue to have the wool pulled over their eyes about roys true status.

anyone who knows their boxing knows that in time roy jones will be defined as

'phenominal skills, ducker, no chin, no heart, no plan B' :deal

Show me some footage evidencing a decent version of Roy Jones having a weak chin or shut the **** up.

    Similar RE ducking accusations.

resume wise no, but i dont see a problem doing it in a h2h sense. roy at his best is very very good

  5. Yea defined as that by hating talentless dingleberrys who don't think that any flashy fighter is worth anything. I tell you man, so-called boxing fans are the worst, always calling somebody a ducker just because they hear another hater say it.:-(

I thought Rico Spadafora was the dumbest poster on the forum.... You take the cake buddy...

Your whole post is full of bull****..... You say Roy "lost" a fight as an amateur? Do you even know what you are talking about?

Civil Servants in that video? Please......
Just because you are uneducated in the sport of boxing and don't recognize the fighters, does not mean they suck. I bet you didn't know in that video I saw Roy knocking around fighters that hold victories over DM, Nigel Benn, Glen Johnson, probably more, that is just off the top of my head.

You just rant and rave about things that are not true and can not back it up with any evidence other than your twisted little view.

    Don't post anymore please.:-(

Google 'Hopkins wiki' and than read. You'll learn that he started boxing late and was in prison. If you already know it don't insult me because you know that Hopkins wasn't still at his best

He couldn't even specify on Roy getting robbed in the Olympics, he repeats everything he hears. And that damn "plan B" he always talks about, I don't even know what he means by that... He says Pac and Mayweather had one but Roy didn't..... What is that supposed to mean? neither of them are past their prime yet. I have asked him this and cant get a straight answer.

  9. Yep. That guy is just a parrot. He is probably reading stupid ass comments on youtube videos and then posting them here.

Sorry, but Hopkins was in his "physical prime" when Jones beat him.... That doesn't mean he was the best he has ever been as a boxer, but physically he was at his best... I don't think Hopkins would argue with this.

Hopkins also had a pretty extensive amateur career, and to say Jones was at his best in that fight is just as foolish.

of course i know the fight he lost as an amateur, i was an 11 year old boy sat up in my living room watchin roy at the seoul olympics because i thought he was the new ray leonard. very conveniant that he used that robbery as an excuse for not going and testing himself against the best abroad though don't you think.

malinga beat benn when benn was passed his best.

as for glen johnson - give me a ****in break, he has lost 13 times :nut johnson only has a name because he beat roy. roy should be truely embarrassed by that. it shows what a fraud he is. cherry picking a fighter like glen johnson and then getting his glass jaw shatterered.

your a bitter roy ballsucker who can't see the wood for the trees.

like i say, phenominal skill set, no chin, no heart, no plan B' :deal

Besides Hopkins and Toney , Roy really hasn't accomplished enough to be considered the best of all time. Even though those are good wins, Hopkins was still kind of green , and he never gave either Bernard or James a rematch.
He refused to fight the most interesting challenger he had at 175, Michaelzewski, and never really fought for the REAL heavyweight championship. Instead he insisted on taking way too much credit for beating one of the most critisized and lightly regarded belt holders of all time , the dismal John Ruiz.
Sure he looked great at beating all the panhandlers he dug up , but as soon as he fought anyone half decent , like Tarver and Johnson (neither of whom will be mistaken for an ATG) he got knocked stiff and twitching.
Roy is certainly a legend in his own mind , and for his loyal legion of fans, and he did have scary, superhuman athletic abilities. But like many fighters today, he didn't prove in the ring that he is as accomplished as Sugar Ray (Robinson or Leonard), Muhammad Ali, Archie Moore, Ezzard Charles or any of a hundred other fighters truly deserving to be called an All Time Great.

  13. So you are saying that Roy looked like **** because Tarver and Johnson were only half decent and that Roy is a fraud. Not because Roy ****ed himself up by blowing up to heavyweight and coming down so fast. Man get the **** outta here.

No those are 'beltholders' you listed. Jones NEVER beat a lineal, unified, or undisputed champion in his whole career. Never fought the #1 guy at Light Heavyweight hell all Glass Jaw Roy did at Light Heavyweight was collect DM's vacated belts against mediocre competition. Roy was a belt collector nothing more.

He has no Chin and no heart, refused to fight the best. Handpicked 98% of his fights and fought useless mandatory or pointless optional defenses instead of real threats. He is a Glass Jawed fraud of the highest order.

    :hi:
