Prime Roy Jones, Prime Joe Calzaghe, Prime Bernard Hopkins. Which of these current Heavyweights could these 3 ATG's beat: Wladimir Klitschko Chris Arreola Samuel Peter John Ruiz Valuev Holyfield Ruslan Chagaev Lamon Brewstar Fraudley Matt Skelton Travis Walker Monte Barret Eddie Chambers Michael Grant Ray Mercer Thoughts ?
I'd pick the Roy who beat Ruiz over everyone listed except Wlad, a prime Mercer, and oddly enough, a younger Brewster. Those sweeping power shots might have caught Roy. How can you even begin to consider the other two as heavyweights when neither one even fought at cruiserweight?
To be quite honest I dont think Calzaghe could beat any of them nor could Hopkins. Jones in his prime prob beats Ruiz(proven) Brewstar, Fraudley,Skelton, Chambers and Barret. IMO. Only due to the fact that he could take power up the weights with superb speed. Hopkins probably couldn't get away with his defensive tactics against a heavyweight and he isn't fast enough to avoid them all day. The debate is still open as to Calzaghes power against the top Super-Middleweights so he'd never be able to carry anything up to Heavy, plus if he's getting floored by 'average' super middles and doesn't have the greatest defence he gets sparked by a heavyweight
Calzaghe is too small to fight at anything over 175 pounds. Hopkins wouldnt be affective north of 190 lbs, and Roy was succesful against one of the most overrated HW's of all time in Ruiz. Roy might take a few of those guys but not most, not at 200 pounds or higher.
