whta re these guys fighting? Am I the only one who thinks this fight is all about name recogntion for calzaghe which is wrong cuz RJJ is WAYYY past his prime and all about money for RJJ,,,I just hope jones fight with tenacity and proves me wrong and goes after the win....if he doesn't JC will win easy....but is it a good win...I am very neutral in this...i would like to see JC lose for choosing to fight a man WAY out of his prime...but I just dont like the fight at all...doesn't prove much for JC...any other neutral guys feel like this fight is ****?

I'm neutral-ish. I'll support Calzaghe as a Brit, but prefer RJJ as a boxer. I think the fight makes sense for both of them. Calzaghe wants one last fight, and he thinks he'll beat a name. RJJ loses, so what? most people believe he would have won in their repsective primes, so if he loses he shouldn't lose too much pride. If he wns, suddenly he's beaten a consensus top 3 p4p and can retire as an undoubted great or command massive money for his next fights.

As a pure boxing match up, I think they both shouldhave retired, though you can't blame JC for wanting the recognition nor RJJ for craving his old lustre.

I agree to a point with jones taking the fight but JC is gaining nothing if he wins easy

It makes all of the sense in the world for Jones, just to put on one last great performance..... Calzaghe, obviously thinks he can win, and wants the name (as faded as it may be) on his resume, plus he is promoting the fight and making good money.

At this point for both fighters, I think is a good option and will be buying the fight, especially as a Jones fan.:yep

I agree with you Paulie.... IMO, there is no reason for this fight to be happening

1 - Roy jones has done NOTHING lately.... beat TRINIDAD????? beat prince.... prince who again? lost to tarver in a fight that was there to be won, r u kidding me???

2 - JOE C is by OTHER peoples (not mine) p4p #1, and hes fighting RJJ???? give me a break.... if this was mayweather at #1 choosing to fight someone so past it and someone with no significant victories lately as Roy Jones for a superfight he would be bombarded for it....

3 - There is a SURPLUSS of great fights that could be made with JOE C from fighters 160-175.... so besides the fact this fight is crap, what makes it that much more crap is put in perspective and magnified by all the available opponents

AND their making a 24/7 about this????? ay yai yai....

The ONLY thing that IMO makes this acceptable is that this is Joe C's last fight.... IMO, Kessler and HOPS were his grande finale and this is his retirement fight, but what i cant stand is hes not being honest... just ****ing SAY that then.

And for Roy, well obviously i dont blame him at all.... hes getting a chance here that he shouldnt get, cant blame him for taking it.

anyways.... i see this as a 'celebrity boxing' event... not much more then that.

The biggest issue that the current version of Roy Jones still has is his diminished committment and execution capablilty in the counterpunching department. He still fights like a counterpuncher, but he doesn't have the confidence or sense of timing to truly make it work. Calzaghe is just begging to be countered, but Roy prefers to take turns exchanging. Unless we see some big changes out of nowhere it's hard to think about him winning.

To me, this is one of those fights for hard core boxing fans, and caual fans alike to just sit back and enjoy.

Sure, we could all go on and on about Roy being past it, Calzaghe should be taking on someone else, what does this fight prove, yada yada yada. And all very valid points.

However, the bottom line, in my opinion, is that both Jones and Calzaghe are great fighters, and boxing legends. They both feel they have a lot to prove, and both are coming to win, and look good doing it.

Whats so wrong about that? Personally, boxing politics aside, I'm gonna order this fight, sit back, crack a cold one and enjoy, because I beleive it will be a HELL of an entertaining scrap.

I agree totally...cant blame roy...24-7 lol...u would think JC is fighting 2000s version of roy not a guy who got physically and mentally destroyed his last 3 big fights...and tito was old and heavy and had no shot at winning that fight...like most of rjj's fights (ruiz)

if it is a great fight GREAT but if it isnt and I shell out 50 it is a fraud...and that is not how I look at all fights...BHOP JC and BHOP KP were both snoozers but they were meaningful fights...I do not know if roy is coming to win...there is precandence (tarver 3)

You all want to believe. Is is possible that Roy will win, but it cannot be predicted from any rational extrapolation of his form and current ability. If he wins it will defy all odds. I am cheering for him, but certainly wont be putting my money on him.
