During saturday's PBC show, there was a segment on pfp champs throughout the years. they spotlighted henry armstrong, srr, ali, srl and fmj...

    i know what y'all are thinking...

well, there's only one explanation as far as i can see...srl didn't want rjj spotlighted on the segment because rjj iis the one fighter who overshadows srl. elite generational superstars like srl are very jealous and competitive guys...they can never accept that anyone is better than them. thing, is, of all the greats in history, rjj is the one guy who would have the best chance at beating srl. in his prime, rjj was pretty much the greatest fighter who ever lived..

.imo that's why he was dissed by not being recognized as the standout pfp star of the 90's and early 2000's.

Prime RJJ was best of his era, prime SRL was Hagler's sidekick.

Doesn't matter what would happen between SRL and Roy Jones H2H. SRL is one of the 10 greatest fighters who ever lived, and RJJ was a guy who was uber dominant in the 90's but didn't really take on great competition outside of a young Hopkins and a prime Toney.

I do agree that SRL comes off bitter at times, but as you mentioned he's just a very competitive guy and I actually like that about him.

Um, no he doesn't. SRL has the better resume by far. Not even close.

    Leonard noteable wins

    Hagler - Hearns - Duran 2x - Benitez - Lalonde

    Losses

    Duran - Camacho - Norris

6 titles in 4 weight divisions

    Jones Notable wins

    Hopkins - Toney - Ruiz - Mccallum - Tarver

    Losses

Griffin, Tarver 2x, Johnson, Calzaghe, Hopkins, Green, Lebedev

Head to Head, Jones would have owned SRL. But that's because he's bigger than him. P4P, Leonard matches up very well with Jones though due to his hand speed and overall skill and toughness.

That's a bit skewed. Jones's losses came after he moved up to HW and came back down. Which it was clear he was passed his prime at this point. He fought on, he has 68 fights. SRL knew when to stop. He retired after 2 losses, with only 39 fights :deal

I disagree, but it is what it is. To each their own. I think Jones, that fought Hopkins, would beat him. Jones was a beast down at MW as well. :deal

SRL has only one Calzaghe-like opponent ( Duran) and he lost the first time as well.

I agree! Jones was and will always be the best fighter on the 90s (voted on be the boxers, writers, trainers, espn)
