Lol I really fear for Roy if he takes the Huck fight. I mean he seems to be doing great with the commentating and being a guest trainer of sorts...and he's also staying fit and relatively healthy by fighting bums...as well as earning good dollar for all three...but this could end Roy's sort of revival in the boxing world. If he does take it ion and wins, I bow down...his legacy gets even more GOATly.
Ha! I've been reading your recent posts regarding Roy, and they made me laugh. Who are you trying to kid with those posts? You would love to see Roy get knocked out, and if it happens, you'll be on here gloating the second after.
Why stop at Huck? He once stated he'd knock both Klitschko brothers out on the same night. Let's see him do it! You go Roy! You can do it:happy Somebody probably just read that and thought "you just want to watch Jones get beat to death don't you?"
Roy still looks ok fighting a complete no hoper... It is when he faces the elite opposition that he looks lost and doesn't throw many punches. Out of fear of being knocked out? Who knows. I don't see him taking very many punches from Huck though.
He has actually recently given Roy credit from 2004 on.. and gives him credit for the Hopkins and Toney victories.. but says he was reluctant from 94-04.. Which still I don't agree with completely but I am a little shocked he is giving Roy some sort of credit. He also said if Roy somehow managed to beat Huck it would enhance Roy's legacy. I think I like this new slightly more reasonable Rico.:rofl But at the end of the day, once Huck puts Roy to sleep, he will be fully loaded with glass jaw ammunition.:deal
If it comes off, I can only see it ending one way. But you've got to give him credit for pursuing the fight. It's quite clear that he's not just fighting to get paid. He doesn't need to fight Huck. But he's doing it because he wants the CW belt, and he knows that time is running out. If he was only fighting for the money, he'd have been fighting three times per year, in ten round fights against the likes of who he fought last night.
Much respect for Roy.. I think he is a warrior at heart.. Things can be more complicated when you are considered the best fighter alive and have never been truly defeated. It becomes more of a risk/reward business, because your stock takes a major hit with a loss. But even in the few times in his prime I seen him get rocked pretty good, he always came back with an onslaught that made you forget that he just got hit. Roy has a lot of heart in my opinion.
Ha! I've read his posts. Again, he's not fooling anyone. If Huck knocks him out, he'll posting GIFS etc. He's so biased. He ducked two simple questions on my Roy thread a few weeks ago.
Give me some credit I have never said Roy couldn't fight or that he didn't have skills. All I have said he he went an awful long time in his career without fighting a meaningful fight (and there were several available) his win over Hopkins was good and the Toney win was excellent and legit despite what the Toney apologists on here say Roy can't train for James so if he was out of shape or weight drained etc. that is not Jones fault. Reminds me how it seemed like every Vitali Klitschko opponent would come in at a career high weight :rofl that wasn't Klitschko's fault. Hopkins, Toney, Tarver are all 3 very good wins for Roy there was just a long space between the Toney and Tarver wins. If he were to beat Huck it would be in my opinion a much better win than Ruiz was for example. Roy is really just a country boy who likes to fish and be left alone I think the 'RJ' persona was just an act to market himself I have spoke to several fighters in Atlanta who have told me such and that Jones is a likeable guy. :good
