    At LHW, I'd agree.


    None of these advantages opened up against a much more hittable fighter like Charles though. Why not? Why not Burley? Jones has the quickness to pot-shot Moore all day. Moore's movement and speed just was not enough to get the job done against Jones. In my mind, Jones kills any stationary fighter, due to his ability to pop in and out faster than they can time, and due to his own unorthodox style, which makes him even harder to time.

    :huh

    I don't get that one. Especially if you can't see him beating Marciano, similar to a slower Dempsey.

    I think Jones could beat more fighters in any weight class than nearly anyone. That is part of the reason for his high P4P ranking for me.

    Yeah, they're good technical fighters, and good punchers. But neither got near my top 20 composite punchers list (Jones did, incidently!).

    But he's not that far ahead in these areas, although he is noticabley ahead of almost all. Great punchers are a different prospect.

    Roy was faster, but Ali could take monster punches. Ali had one of the greatest chins of all time at his weight. So when you put him in with the punchers you have to say - the puncher doesn't have a punchers chance. Ali would beat Shavers 99/100. No ****ing way does Jones beat Foster 99/100. Because when Jones gets hit on the point of the chin by Foster he is rendered unconscious.

    For me, Ali is a favourite over every fighter who ever lived aside from Louis. Other guys, who Ali would beat would beat Louis. In real terms, Ali is the best fighter who has ever lived.

    Dempsey isn't a pressure fighter for one, he also over-comits to punches, leaving him open to Jones counters. An aggressive Jones could cause Dempsey real problems I think.

    You really think Jack and Rocky are that similair?

    Ali is top 10 P4P for me. But you know what....and I have always felt this. I don't think he could have beaten Foreman twice. I think if he had fought him again, he would have lost.

    This is not enough for a fighter to be top 10 in my book, certainly not without the resume to back what you see.

    What I am saying, with all due respect to you as a good poster, is that I dont' trust your analytical skills of his speed/timing etc., to compensate for an "above average" chin to the point where I will palce him above so many wonderful fighters - he must have the resume to compensate in these circumstances in my opinion.

    Bert Sugar is an old koot who still lives in the middle of the last century.

    As for Roy's placement all time. Anywhere from 20-30 is just fine.

    Problem with Mayweather is that once he leaves 130 in an all time sense, there are alot of fighters per weight class that would trouble him.

    At 135, there are alot of fighters who could give him hell, and 140 has a few, though not nearly as many. At 147 though....ouch. This doesn't take away from Mayweather, but the styles and attributes that have given him trouble when facing GOOD fighters, would be much more difficult to deal with in great fighters at his higher weights. He is arguably the best ever H2H at 130.

    Burley - better at the things Moore was great at (always terminal).

    Charles - fought Moore very aggressivelly by all the accounts I have to hand.

    Moore thrives upon exactly this. He can make you take the wrong shot is why. He is absolutley expert at it. You must murder him, or out-Moore him. Jones can do neither - or maybe he could? Murder him I mean?
