"For all his titles, I'd go," Jones said. "I want Calzaghe. If I've got the titles, he has to come and get it but he's got the titles so I have to go and get it.

"The way I see it is that Ricky Hatton came over and fought Floyd Mayweather so it's somebody's turn to go back over there for us, to show that we're impartial, we're fair."

The American said making history was a motivating factor for wanting the fight.

Having equaled Bob Fitzsimmons' 1897 achievement of a former middleweight winning a heavyweight title, he would now like to return to the lighter divisions to regain titles.

"The only thing left to accomplish that I've thought about is if I go down and regain the super-middleweight title," Jones said.

"Bob Fitzsimmons didn't do that so I'd have one up on him. He can't come back and redo it, and the next person to try and do it will have a hard time to do it all."

Jones said he was confident Calzaghe would beat Hopkins, adding: "Calzaghe's busy and that's why I know
    This content is protected
because Hopkins doesn't have knockout power.

"To beat Joe, you're going to have to knock him out. He's far too busy to go 12 rounds and expect to get a decision (against him), especially in Wales.

"That's why I say it doesn't matter where you go to fight him, because you've got to knock him out wherever you go.

"I've got to knock him out but
    This content is protected
    But I'll take the gamble."

I agree he would probably be outclassed. I am really curious what he looks like this saturday; cause he claims he is "back to his old self" now that he is back down in weight. I don't believe it but am curious to see if there is a trace of him

can't see it happening myself, he's looked so old in his past two fights and his legs are completely gone. he still has some pop and hand speed but spends way too much time on the ropes. lucky for him that trini is even more shot, fighting 15+lbs above his best fighting weight and hasn't set foot in the ring for over 2 years.

Depends on how Roy does this Saturday. If he is impressive then a fight against Calzaghe sounds good to me. Jones vs Calzaghe would be more interesting than Calzaghe vs Woods and it would make more money too.

the only extra interest is name value. woods is a much more live opponent than todays RJJ.

Lets see how he does on Saturday. i'm actually quite looking forward to seeing it, which i'm suprised about because i cant usually be bothered to see two washed up fighters go at it.

It is pretty refreshing to hear an american be impartial for a change though and finally admit that they need to go somewhere other than the states to fight. I think it is a bit of a joke, them thinking that America is the only place a big fight with an american in can happen!! I was abit annoyed with him implieing that you will never win a decision over in wales though, he should check out the robberies which have happened stateside before commenting on things like that.....maybe Lewis - Holyfield 1?!?!

  10. This is actually one of Roys most sensible statements to be frank and it is nice for him to acknowledge the need to travel to wales to fight the champ, that's very respectful.

    Goddamn, retire you old mother****er.

RJJ is one of the most gifted fighters ever, but he needs to stop blemishing his legacy by fighting way past his prime.

And I agree with his assessment of the BHop-Calzaghe fight, Joe´s chin+workrate > anything BHop can do.

Jones-Calzaghe would be the fight. Bslop is nothing...a name..a used to be good fighter..Calzaghe will crush him like Drago did Creed...If Jones beats Tito the way I anticipate he will Calzaghe-Jones must happen..It would be worlds more exciting than
Calzaghe-Hopkins....People are in for a shock Saturday...best believe Jones has still got it.. you'll see

It doesn't matter, smart fans have video of what he used to be at his best and know what he was. Revisionist classic and stoneage-era nuthuggers mean nothing in their critique's.

I don't know if you can get worse than the embarassment B-Hop is going to recieve if he signs to fight Joe. And a prime Jones definitely is a favourite over a prime Calzaghe.
