Interesting and nicely put however what happens if Roy shows you he still has it Saturday??It's somewhat sad that boxing fans frown upon a great fighter who's recently hit a rough patch and is rebuilding and making a comeback...Will Jones be at his prime level again?? Of course not however even if he's 80% of his prime he still can dominate 168 if he stays active...Yes at this stage in my opinion Jones beats Calzaghe and Calzaghe hand Blsop a beatdown:good

Sad thing is its worth a helluva lot more than Popkins-Calzaghe...doesnt say much about Calzaghe-Popkins does it? Sad thing is Joe knows he can beat Popkins and knows he cant beat Roy for all the obvious reasons easily ignored by Calzagians

4+ years is not a rough patch. what more is it going to take to open certain RJJ fans eyes and make them realise their man is more shot than one of charlton heston's rifles. he would get the beating of his life if he stepped in the ring with a live body at LHW now.

Jaysus. Old Jones is actually speaking some sense there.

Ha mate your being more biased than realistic...I respect Joe. While Jones isnt quite what he used to be he doesnt have to be in order to compete with Joe...Joes great but comparing resumes Roy could wipe his ass with Joes...He beat an A in Kessler the reward was high so that still doesnt make him the god you portray him to be. While I like him I want to see more meaningful fights for Joe than a ****ing Senior citizen.....Head to Head right now Jones would own popkins just like he did at RFK stadium..so wheres the validity in fighting Popkins?? It means nothing

Roy would get beat up badly from Calzaghe now. Bad fight he should retire after Tito.

Just watched Calz. vs. Kessler last night, hadn't seen it before. Joe made Kessler look very average. Very impressive performance by Joe. From the reviews I've read on ESB, I was expecting a much more competitive bout. I scored it 10-2 Calz, maybe 9-3 if I'm generous.

Good to hear Jones still wants it and is willing to leave the states for Joe. Saturday could tell us a lot about a future fight between the two.

Level of competition mate...lets think about that for a moment:think Jones looked very well against Hanshaw displaying many things I thought he lost..He didnt finish Hanshaw when I thought he could or should of..but on that note Joe has looked a bit lackluster against lackluster opponents as well. Now speaking in terms of big fights even though Joe for the most part BARELY dominated I did NOT feel he gave his all and in all honesty was slightly disappointed in his effort..Joe could've ended it after Kesslers big 4th round as after this Kessler was spaced until the 12th. This maybe due to the fact that I'd been looking forward to that fight for a LONG time..and as boxing fans sometimes our expectations arent met even though it was a competitive fight..

Fighting is in the mind and there must be a hunger. I think when someone trains for one big fight, it is a let down. De LaHoya was an example of this against PBF. A figher HAS to be fighting, to stay focused. I agree that if RJJ looks good against Trinidad, then both he and JC will have a lot of motivation to get together. JC does well against a fighter that comes at him - Lacy, Manfredo, and Kessler, did not exhibit any lateral movement. Joe lets his hands go. I think he would get a wake up call if Jones slips and hits.

If JRR was to fight JC in the same way as he fought in the Johnson fight by sitting on the ropes for most of the fight and not throwing punches back he would get a Lacy stile beating or even stopped.:bbb

Funny how in the 90's not one of the top middleweights fancied the idea, but now when the ball isnt in their court it get mentioned aint it?
