After watching this video, and seeing what Larry Merchant and Burt Sugar has to say about Roy Jones. It just made me curious about what my fellow ESB members think. Do you guys agree with Jones, or Larry and Bert. Or think otherwise, all comments are welcome

Oh and what Larry was saying is BS about how all the great fighters have to move up in weight to prove their greatness.

Hagler never moved up and is he 'not great'? I don't think so.
Also by that time, Roy had already moved up three weight classes (160-168-175)

His resume doesn't do him justice. There are inferior fighters who belong ahead of him simply because of better competition. You can argue how much of that actually was Roy's fault.

Head to head, there's no one in history I'd favor over him at 168 pounds.

In retrospect - and Roy's prime wasn't that long ago - Roy has been judged too harshly.

In this clip, Holmes said it best. Surprisingly, I didn't hear Holmes curse once.

Anyhow, people tend to forget that Jones moved up to LHW, was outsized at this weight and dominated. With the exception of DM, he fought everyone how was anyone at LHW during his era. That has to count for something.

the thing that i dont like about rjj is that his resume (good bec. of toney, hopkins), never measured up to his talent (god like). being backed by hbo he could have pushed for any fight out there.

RJJ top10 ATG for me one of the best ever no ****ing doubt. Like he said the guy beat Hopkins and James Toney, and Virgill Hill EASY. Dominated everyone, even Ruiz at Heavyweight.

Forget about the Tarver and Johnson fights that not the same man in there.

RJJ during his career was leagues ahead of where FMJ is today. Can you imagine a prime RJJ having a close fight with someone on the same level as Castillo? Don't get me wrong Castillo was an elite fighter but Jones ate elite fighters for breakfast.

Everyones criteria is different, talent wise, i think he was the best we will ever see, resume wise, he was hurt by fighting in a weak era.

Not to mention he beat Tarver the first fight in what was the last little bit of his prime.
