Da Silva is sending right handed bombs coursing over the left jab of Kerwat, punishing her for each one and making her increasingly gun-shy, taking advantage of her lazy habits leaving it hung out to dry like a lawn hose without the measuring-tape instant recoil a coach would ask of any gym newbie. Lack of fundamentals starting to bleed through for Kerwat. Da Silva just easily dancing around her with swagger, almost sashaying laterally and then peppering her with body combos, then coming up top with heavy left & right hooks. Kerwat getting pulped.

Round 5

Da Silva is crashing her way in with a sandbagging right. When they stand and trade 1-2s at medium-long range, Da Silva is the only one rocking back and forth to slip Kerwat's, while touching her up in a rhythm with her own. Da Silva dives in with an overhand right and they collapse to the floor, both tumbling in a slip. Kerwat is bending over at the waist and trying to rip some body shots, but can't get the leverage, as Da Silva lowers her center of gravity and bores her way in with her own heavier body shots, folding Kerwat in half and backing her up. Kerwat lands a clubbing right hand behind the neck in an exchange as Da Silva is pumping in more body shots, parlayed into a brief messy clinch.

Round 6

Da Silva is met in the center of the ring as Kerwat tries commanding this real estate with her own heavy right hands up top. Kerwat on a mission to press forward in this round, but only has about half a minute of steam before she's just standing transfixed, getting slipped when she comes jabbing in and pelted underneath the guard with quick body shots. Da Silva bobs and weaves in with some zigzagging footwork and lands a jab & overhand right combination on the face. Da Silva makes Kerwat follow her and walks her onto another pair up top. Kerwat loads up repeatedly on jabs and big axing rights but Da Silva is playing her like a fiddle, sidestepping and countering.

Round 7

Da Silva is walking up to Kerwat, rocking backward to slip punches and whip-snapping in again with bowling rights on the belly or syncopated chopping volleys on the face. Kerwat is just creeping forward unimaginatively with the same jab-jab-right hand and Da Silva has something new and painful awaiting her each time. BIG overhand right by Da Silva just before the bell and Kerwat is rocked and saved by the bell.

Round 8

Da Silva is landing with lead uppercuts on the belt line and following up with left hooks on the kisser. Losing her balance on the backfoot, Kerwat stumbles but keeps punching back, primarily with errant jabs. Kerwat splashes a right hand up and into Da Silva's left shoulder. Da Silva too slippery for her moving backward, and has an overhand right counter poised and ready to drop at every turn. Kerwat just keeps walking onto shots that stop her in her tracks for a moment. Da Silva ends the round pushing forward behind the jab, nearly trapping Kerwat on the ropes. Kerwat ducks low and rests her head against Da Silva's hip and is caught in a side headlock. Right hand by Da Silva at the bell.

Round 9

Da Silva is bouncing off the ropes after letting Kerwat charge at her, face-down like a bull, playing matador, sticking Kerwat with banderillas on either side of the head with counters. Tired and taking lumps every few seconds, Kerwat nonetheless persists in trudging forward, hoping to land a Hail Mary perhaps. Da Silva is also starting to slow her output and spend more time hoofing it, conserving energy between short bursts of counter fire.

Round 10

Da Silva is standing in and scrubbing the side of Kerwat's neck with a jab, but is backed up as Kerwat slams down on her with some heavy right hands. Kerwat has found a second wind and is putting full power into all her punches now, and has Da Silva on the run. Kerwat double jabs her way inside and Da Silva catches her in a clinch. Broken. Da Silva now trotting rightward, almost cornered, and drops a couple of shots onto Kerwat's face before repelling herself off to her left with a shove. Kerwat is ducking the jab and sucking in her gut, buttocks stuck out behind her to avoid Da Silva's body shots. Kerwat pushing forward until the final bell.

Simone Da Silva through an interpreter says that she didn't come in thinking she was the underdog. She credits her 14 years of experience. She announces her intent to stick with boxing as her main focus instead of MMA going forward, eliciting big cheers from the crowd.

 

Ikram Kerwat apologizes to her fans, says "this is boxing and we need to learn, and we do not learn only from victories". She and her coach will talk about it and see what she can build on. She will tweak a few things in the gym and then pursue a rematch with Da Silva.

Roy Jones Jr. comes in and says that Da Silva was an experienced opponent bringing her A game, which is always dangerous no matter how confident you feel as the favorite.
