Round 3

López is feeding jabs down into the mouth of Ximénez as the latter tosses big line drive rights from shoulder height in a crouch up into the mouth. Ximénez rowing out right jabs, paddling with it, forcing López to back up a step in a straight line, a sitting duck for a big left hand from Ximénez. Double jab and right hand for López miss, but he scores an uppercut as Ximénez remained a moment too long in a ducking position, overconfident in having weathered the storm. Ximénez is switching orthodox, doing a bit of the Dempsey/Golovkin shift on the way in, harrying López with jabs from either stance and body shots.

Round 4

López is trying to catch Ximénez with a jab & uppercut combo, walking him onto it while circling against the ropes, but Ximénez is too savvy, approaching with his body cheated away 45 degrees, making a slim target, right shoulder popped up to protect his chin, dashing in to unload on the body or spear jabs & crosses up top and then weaving back to his starting point. The pace settles a bit and López is able to stand Ximénez's purple coiffure on end with a couple of nice jolting rights from mid-range, and wallop his outer hip with a double left hook. Ximénez is driven into a corner, where López pelts him with several uppercuts on the face.

Round 5

López is stalking, tense, picking off Ximénez's right jab with his left, timing a BIG right hand down the pipe, hurting Ximénez briefly. López is throwing less (and less slick defensively) but landing harder. Nice uppercut on the body from López. Ximénez getting caught on the ropes, where López cuffs him on the hairline with both hands. Stiff jabs between the guard by López while dancing side to side. Ximénez pressuring with earmuffs on, looping in heavy body shots until López ties up. Reach-down lead right from López, on the crest of the dome as Ximénez ducks in front of him looking for a body opening. Nice right hand lead from Ximénez ambushing from a crouch by the ropes, now boxing orthodox again. López with a hard right downstairs, partially absorbed on the elbow. Uppercut from López.

Round 6

Ximénez is getting caught by right hands on the chin, both straight down the middle and quick shallow uppercuts, all set up by the lulling throwaway left jab. Really nice work by López moving from side to side. Ximénez is jerking his neck and shoulders around, pivoting to slip punches, but not all of them. Ximénez countering where he can, scoring body shots and the odd right up-jab, but López doing a number on him from medium-long to medium-close range. In the clinch, Ximénez hammering up top with the left hand. Ximénez cut, Jack Reiss says from a headbutt.

Round 7

Ximénez is eating left jabs as he drops a level and swoons to either side drunkenly before lurching inside with left uppercuts on the side of López's torso. López just taking pot shots with the counter left jab, but Ximénez starting to catch a piece of the head with his lassoing right hooks and steep-climbing lefts from a deep knee bend. Throw-down, judo style hip-toss actually, rightly not ruled a KD by Reiss.

Round 8

Ximénez is starting to skewer his own face on the jab of López rushing in. Left uppercut downstairs by Ximénez as he falls in atop López on the ropes. Both men tiring a bit now, the action growing ragged as they wrestle free of clinches roughly upon Reiss' orders. Nice triple jab on the nose by López, just point-scoring, very light. Ximénez continues to switch-hit fairly effectively, but is getting skimmed along the eye socket by the step-back fade-away right uppercut from López. Another long clinch, and both men guilty of some hard elbows swung into the ribs on the way out, no warning to either from Reiss. López eats a right hook on the jaw but lands a hard right uppercut on the solar plexus simultaneously, good exchange. They keep slugging.
