Fact of the matter is that Roy has some good opponents on his resume. Hill, Griffin, Sosa, Ruiz and several others. "Take a person like Benard Hopkins who hasn't lost since 93, who beat him?" What about Jones beating Reggie Johnson? 2 weight world champion? Mike McCallum? John Ruiz? Outweighed by almost 30 lbs? Montell Griffin? Tarver? Julio Cesar Gonzalez All good wins.
Yes Jones has a win against Hopkins, but then you can argue that Buster Douglas has a better record than Mayweather because he beat Tyson... Mayweather has consistently sought out and faced tougher challenges than Jones ever did, Mayweather fought and beat better fighters so to answer the question, Mayweather's achievements and legacy are greater
His resume isn't thin. People just aren't as familiar with his opponents. Especially people who started watching boxing less than 10 years ago.

The versions of Toney and Hopkins are much better than half if not almost all the names you just listed !
A proper in depth analysis needs to be done. Who did they both fight, and more importantly WHEN? What had the key opponents done before they fought Roy and Floyd? What did they achieve afterwards? What fighters did they miss? For example, Roy missed Benn, Collins, DM etc. Floyd missed Marg, Mosley (earlier) Cotto (earlier) Pac etc. It all needs looking at. Who did they miss? For example, the biggest name missing from Floyd's resume is probably Manny. The biggest name missing from Roy's is probably DM. In my opinion, the difference is, Roy tried to make the fight, whereas Floyd didn't want to fight Manny. (in my honest opinion.) Manny was also a better fighter than DM in my opinion. What was Roy's best win? What was Floyd's best win? Were the fighters that both guys missed, better than the fighters they fought? How dominant were both fighters? If it's done properly, this will be a great debate. Floyd has longevity over Roy, but Roy went up to heavy and back at 34/35. Would Floyd ever fight at ranked guy at 160, and what would happen if he did, and then he came back to 147 in a hurry, the rough equivalent of what Roy did for Tarver? Did they both honestly try and fight the best available? Did they both cherry pick? If they did, then who? Did one fighter have more opportunity than the other one to build a better resume/legacy? Which fighter pushed themselves the most? This could be good, if no idiots/haters get involved.
Jones has the superior resume IMO. Prime versions of Hopkins and Toney are better than any victories Floyd has, and he has some quality depth beyond that as well. Hill, McCallum, Tarver, Ruiz, Griffin, etc.
Lets not forget that after Jones picked up the HW strap he came back down to win the lt heavy weight title ..An accomplishment frequently over looked.
Hi mate, hope all is well I have to disagree on this point, Floyd made more commitment to fighting Manny than Roy ever did DM, Roy said he wanted £12m to fight DM, and that was completely unrealistic.
