Chris Byrd would have been a much harder fight than Ruiz - who was blatantly cherry picked.

However, despite this, you cannot criticise a lightheavy for moving up to heavy, regardless of who he faces.

To say Jones avoided fighters or was very selective with opposition isnt to say he wasnt talented, its just to state a quite obvious point.

Great, what else can be said about Roy? Roy has a glass jaw, and that he didn't fight DM, Benn, Roccoghiani, Nunn and who else? lol...:rofl

You can tell a weasel fan when you see one lol. How cvan you criticize Roy for fighting Ruiz and going back down to his natural weight? How? You say the same ole thing in every post, and you wonder why nobody respects your posts at all. Roy made his own bed and now he has to sleep in it, but don't act like he was never good. Posters here aren't stupid. You sound like a degenerate day after day posting "glas jaw Roy" over and over. What do you think that if you say it 100 times, we'll all think it? Roy is a glass jawed H.O.F fighter and your babified ctiticism's of him can't stop the induction Rico pusshead. Didn't Paul Spadafora shoot his GILRfriend? Now Spads is a coward if I ever saw one.

We don't need comparisons to the way another fighter did things. I'll answer the question. Yes Roy did his best to make the fights and fight every available opponent. He fought who you wanted him to fight. Why, who didn't Roy fight? A rematch with Hop? When you come up with guys Roy didn't fight, make sure you give us the reasons why they didn't get a fight or why the fight wasn't made with Roy. We'll leave this as an open ended response lol...

The fact that the best criticism people can come up with is Roy Jones not fighting Lennox Lewis, who is seven inches taller, 60 pounds heavier naturally and among the five to ten best heavyweights in history, goes to show you how great Jones was. He was a middleweight for Christ sake!

And then there are people criticizing him for "cherry picking" by fighting Ruiz. How the hell is a MIDDLEWEIGHT cherry picking when he's fighting a natural 220lbs beltholder? Was Ruiz the best heavyweight in the world? No, but he's a damn good one, in fact from 1999-today, he's only behind Lewis, the Klitschko's and perhaps Byrd.

Oh, and for those saying that Fitszimmons beat the real heavyweight champion: that's true.

But let it be noted that that "real heavyweight champion" that Fitz beat weighed 184 lbs. ALL of Jones' opponents at lightheavyweight were 180lbs or more when they stepped into the ring. Did Fitzsimmons have to beat a natural 220lbs skilled man? Let's put things into perspective here.

A lot of people pretend asif everyone was lining up to fight Jones. They weren't. Eubank and Collins turned down a fight. Hopkins made unrealistic demands - and who can blame him - he was dominated the first time and Jones showed ZERO weaknesses since that fight, while Hopkins was still fighting the Robbert Allen's, Joe Lipsey's and Andrew Council's of the world.

Realistically, if Jones fought fading versions of Eubank or Benn (others explained already why they didn't come off), he would've won easily and the people now burning him for not fighting them would've ignored those wins like for instance the McCallum win.

Between 1993 and 2003, Jones was ****ing invincible and dominated all of his opponents while easily beating all time great fighters like Hopkins, Toney and McCallum as well as a good heavyweight in Ruiz. No one else can lay claim to those achievements during that era.

And Joe ducking Jones throughout his prime only to accept the fight when he's clearly shot is of course daring to be great.

Actually Calzaghe represents all that is wrong with boxing. He's just now coming to the States, but he's fighting guys that are over the hill. He could have came over a long time ago. he's a protected fighter and Jones did more to be great than Calzaghe did, when was the last time he talked about going to HW and gaining a title and how many weight classes has Joe fought in comparision to Jones. Jones was always at an disadvantage at 175, but he was so good it didn't matter.
