He wasnt talking about you, he was talking about "pacfans" referring to the general stupidity of some pacfans on this forum. Clearly you missed reading comprehension at school.
He did take a calculated risk in this one, and that fight is one in which I do give him credit. But even here, what did he really do? He took the easiest route imaginable to win a heavyweight title against a belt holder who was universally recognized as the WEAKEST of the bunch. It's not as if he moved up to take on the REAL heavyweight champion, Lennox Lewis. That would have been a HUGE risk, but that's not what Jones did. Jones took the cheesy route to winning a heavyweight title. He never beat the real heavyweight champion, and for that matter, he never even beat the real LIGHT heavyweight champion. He was a fraud, and again, the people who were screwed most were the fans. He didn't do much for the sport or his own legacy, either, but he didn't care. In any case, I, for one, will be happy to see him suffer another defeat at the hands of Calzaghe. **** Jones! :smoke
and clearly you missed what forms character outside of it. don't do this over the net. it belittles you.
When people spew this crap it lowers the forums to a level that makes no major boxing people take it seriously.
His resume doesnt reflect either his talents, or his financial clout. He did fight a fireman. I dont want the best boxer in the world to be fighting people who compete as a second job.
Don't be obtuse. Who held 3 of the 4 belts when Jones arrived at the weight class? Who never lost any of those belts in the ring? Path of least resistance, never dared to be great, always minimized risk to maximize profit--all exactly as I stated! RJJ may have been a good businessman, but much of his so-called "legacy" is a total illusion. He represented what was wrong with boxing throughout most of his "prime". I look forward to watching Calzaghe slap the **** out of him! :smoke
Roy is most probably the most naturally gifted athlete-boxer since SRL and it would be almost unwise not to call him a Great. You don't win MW, SMW, LHWT and a HWT Championships with so many wins and KOs if you are not great, but having said so, let me just say that Rumsfeld is also great b'cause here is a guy that is not tongue tied or afraid of UFOs or any Old Testament-like revenge when he says what he thinks. It would be nice to see that the World/America is not afraid to speak up tomorrow but that is a whole different situation...I'll just go on saying that something is terribly wrong with Jones' approach to the game of Boxing.
Yeah, because two losses after coming down in weight in the twilight of his career NEGATE THE ENTIRE CAREER UNTIL THAT POINT. Gotta love ESB logic.
