In 1990 Vinny Pazienza fought Greg Haugen and Hector Camacho at 140lbs (I've watched those fights MANY times)......

In 1995 he fought Roy Jones 28lbs heavier...........

He didn't move up 2 weight classes for that fight, but if you know anything, nobody gave Roy credit for beating someone who was fighting at 140lbs a couple of years prior.................atsch

Perhaps you would like to also take note that Pazienza had been at 168 for 2 years by that time, fought at JWW 5 years prior, not a couple, and in 1991 jumped from 140 all the way to 154 for his next fight, clearly having trouble making weight. He then pretty much skipped 160 all together having only 2 fights there. And before Jones destroyed him in 1995, Pazienza was ranked the #5 SMW in the world by Ring.

ANYBODY could see that Vinny Pazienza was FAT and that's why he couldn't make weight, and in NO WAY belonged in the ring with Roy Jones..

Come on now, he beat Roberto Duran to get to Roy, that's all I'm saying...Thanks to Don King, IBF, etc. we all know that Rankings mean ****...

Tyson can match Jones' foot and handspeed. And for the very few occassion in his career, he is fighting a guy of his height. I could imagine Tyson smiling with his capped tooth shining while this fight is announced.

Those weren't IBF rankings.....I quoted Ring's rankings. Don King scandal was years earlier and Ring's rankings were pretty legit at the time.

Pazienza most likely didn't belong in the ring with Jones at the time. But he gave a good account of himself at 168 for a bit, even without Duran and even after he lost to Jones, giving Graham a decent fight.

I am calling it like it is, those are actual facts of Pazienza's career. You are presenting one side of it without pointing out the other side of the coin. Pazienza was certainly a former LW....DLH is a former FW, and now campains 24lbs heavier. It's not that unusual now. Jones was a former 154lb fighter too....he now fights at 175.

 

Tyson by very early Spinks-esque KO, and it would be the finish of Jones as it was Spinks.
Jones has nothing to keep a Prime Tyson off of him, and that Tyson was brilliant at cutting off the ring.
