Question: Has an upset as unlikely as RJJ beating Tyson happened for real in the history of boxing? Ali - Foreman and Douglas - Tyson were huge upsets, but don't compare, because it they involved natural HW's. Is Sugar Ray Leonard - Hagler close to RJJ beating Tyson? Probably not, but even if it was, RJJ relied purely on his otherworldy talent, he couldn't pull off a upset a la SRL - Hagler or Ali - Foreman, which were accomplished by brilliant game plans.

Thoughts are "what a funny thread".

AS IF Roy f'king Jones could touch Tyson, prime or no prime.

And I thought the "Calzaghe-Trinidad" poll / thread couldn't be bettered for sheer lunacy.

    Whatever. Tyson FRKO > Jones.

Exactly. Boxing N00bz are quite entertaining, though.

Tyson would lay Jones out cold, and early too. :nod He wouldn't be fighting a talentless cheater like Ruiz, but a real world class fighter.

There's a REASON Jones picked Ruiz to fight at HW, people. He probably had the least boxing ability of any HW beltholder ever.

    A decent HW annihilates Jones.

Tyson, easily. He would be too strong and powerful for RJJ. RJJ's best weight was at light-heavey.

That's the same Ruiz that split a trilogy with Hollyfield, when Holy was prime.

I don't like watching Ruiz because of his style , but he wasn't an easy mark fo a man who started at 154 and was at his best at 168/175.

Jones would have lost (been injured?) against Tyson, but he would have lasted 4-6 rounds.

Holyfield wasn't in his prime - not even CLOSE! :patsch And Ruiz STILL had to cheat in those fights to "beat" him - held excessively in all of 'em, faked a "low blow" in the 2nd fight, got a gift decision in the third. :tired

Ruiz was probably the most limited fighter to ever hold a HW belt - which is why he had to do it with cheating and chicanery.

As far as Jones - MAYBE he makes it to the 5th or 6th, IF he runs.

Maybe a tad past prime:lol:, but my point is, limited as Ruiz was, he was a much bigger man than Jones and Jones beat him convincingly. And he held as much against Jones as he did with Holy, just better reffing, and better dealing with it by Jones.

Jones would have ranked in the top 10 heavies of that time which included Kirk Johnson, Hasim Rahman, Evander, Fres Oquendo, Chris Byrd, Mike Tyson(shot version)...and others I have forgotten.
