Roy thinks that fighting Toney now would prove nothing. Even thinking about Toney would be a waste of his time. I agree.. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RauloEsrXxo[/ame] But Roy tries not to get into that. He tries to be gentle to the tubby. But pushed just a little, and he tells it like it is.
This version of Roy can't take Tony's punching power and I can see an easy KO for JT in this one. But like another poster said, this is not something either of them should be talking about at this point in their lives. Both of them have left their better days behind them.
Meh. Got a lot of love for RJ - but they both really need to retire. Roy's last few years of fighting have been painful to watch. That rematch should have happened in 2003 when RJ was LHW champ and Toney was cruiserweight champ.
Fighting Toney now would prove nothing about either guy except for reinforcing sadly how far gone they both are. I would bank on Toney stopping Roy now should they decide to go through with it though, Roy has no punch resistance now at all.
I'd like to see it again....interesting to see who wins now but my guess would be that James crushes Roy Jones. And when Roy was talking about "CLASS"..he was referencing "WEIGHT"...not the "LEVEL of CLASS". James has a deeper and more robust skill set than Roy. Roy was always the faster and more explosive fighter with the abundance of God given talents he was blessed with, but at this stage Roy doesn't have the reflexes, speed or explosiveness that made him fighter of the decade for the 1990's. I think Roy knows what's up and excuses his way out by saying James is too big.
About as pointless as the second Hopkins fight. Pretty much as pointless as any fight Roy will be having anytime soon, he's shot to ****ing ****, I wish he would stop risking his life.
Prime for Prime Roy is in another class, right now I'd favor JT though if the fight takes place at Cruiser or Heavy. In his last fight Roy was badly wobbled by a Clubfighter with a terrible ko% while Toney took Lebedevs best punches for 12 and was never close to getting dropped.
