OK, im going against my head on this one cause my heart tells me Jones will win. 2 week avatar bet, deal.
I disagree. I think prime RJJ vs Prime JC would have been a 50/50 matchup. Joe is the master of adaptation, he would have found a way to adapt to RJJ's style and the 2nd half of the fight would have been much more difficult for RJJ. Give JC some credit buddy :good
Joe is not a master of adaptation even if he were he would be either knocked out later or lessen the wide UD loss.
Nuthugger...it's a term that's thrown around all too casually on the net. I can just call a great fighter when I see one I've been saying for years Joe is one of the best fighters on the planet. I've been on the train for many years... it's a good feeling being proven right.
Adapting to a prime RJJ is a totally different situation. Id say Toney would be just as good at adapting and he couldnt do jack in that fight. I give Joe credit, have for years. Argued to I was blue into face that there was no way he was losing the Kessler and Hopkins fights. Probably more of a fan of his than I ever was of Roy. But I think you are totally underrating a Prime RJJ, who rarely even lost a round in his prime, against guys as quick, versatile and awkward as Joe.
The difference being that Toney had nothing cos he couldn't maintain his weight. Calzaghe was far more disciplined out of the ring then James ever was.
:yikes WHAT ? Joe has built the latter part of his career cultivating this specific aspect of the sweet science , earlier in his career (when Calzaghe's hands were up to it ) his game plan was to out bang anyone as his ko ratio suggests , then when said hands were really too far gone to cope with this he reinvented himself into a fighter who's biggest weapon IS ADAPTABILITY , Joe throws punches in bunches scoring at will once he had figured his opponent out , so called boxing experts will tell you he slaps just because this is the POPULAR opinion to hold but how come nobody has been able to just walk through these so called slaps over the last 10 fights Joe has had ? Lacy couldn't and he was as tough as they come , Bika is an animal who was slapped silly during the latter rounds , Kessler ? kessler is a massive 168'er who despite catching Joe cleanly with some awesome shots had to give up the ghost because he was getting "Slapped" out of sight ,Hopkins ? Old Bernie is one bad arse as his recent scrap with Pavlik would suggest ,how come he couldn't do **** all v a "Slapper" ? these blokes were out thought by Calzaghe and this allowed Joe to "Slap" his way to un fancied ( to some ) wins against ALL and i see RJJ being no different . i see a few knowledgeable fight fans here saying Roy but in the bottom of their hearts they really are just Hoping that Joe gets beaten because they don't want to see Calzaghe retire unbeaten .ive had all this **** out with the Yanks on the main board over the last few weeks with even some saying Calzaghe ain't **** all until he beats Dawson ( It was Pavlik two weeks before ) atsch ..Win lose or Draw v Jones Calzaghe is as smart a fighter that he is a buisness man and lets face facts this fight as was the Hopkins fight prior is a buisness fight , Joe as a serious boxer was finished when he became the Undisputed 168'er on this Planet :deal .
