Why would they bother with all this lineal champion **** if their wasn't a record of it? Why would they bother with the process of picking a new lineal champion, and fighters staking a claim for the lineal championship, when it is vacant if nobody kept a record of it? There's a list of cyberboxingzone, there must be lists elsewhere. He will go down as a lineal champion like it or not.
Why would people go about making lists of ATG boxers? That doesn't make any one list 'official'. Sure, there are lots of lists. Lots of them disagree with regard to certain divisions. Like I said, it's a matter of opinion. Which one are you claiming to be official, the one at cyberboxingzone? What makes that the official one? For instance, they have the lightweight lineal title as vacant (an opinion with which I concur). A lot of other lists, however, will list Marquez as lineal champion. Why is one opinion official?
No he isnt doing a Calzaghe...Im not a fan of Calzaghe but he did atleast fight live bodies...No he is following in the footsteps of the last transplaneted German based fighter that held a Lt heavyweight title and fought under Universum Box and Peter Kohl Fighting a list of Zomies, Cabdrivers, Bartenders and Poolboys.. DM ring a bell for anyone:good
Lets be serious here guys.... Jones beat Shieka, not a good contender or a gatekeeper type, just a Shieka guy lol. Id dafinatly say Erdei and Garay would outpoint him and I can see Diaconu knocking him out. Roy is done, don't let this win fool you.
In my view, Roy Jones Jr. should retire now, on a plus. I doubt he will. Unfortunately, he may well end up like Ali, if he keeps going and going.
At this point RJJ has nothing left to prove, he had nothing left to prove after the Ruiz fight and he should have retired. Here is how I think he would do with the other 175 belt holders RJJ UD12 Garay (I have never been impressed with this guy and I think that Roy has enough speed and skill left to win this one) RJJ-Erdei (Could go either way, ZE is not very impressive either or a hard hitting pressure fighter, Roy might be able to outbox the younger man) Diaconu tko9 RJJ (this is one of the worst match ups out there for Roy. A young aggressive pressure fighter, this guy is a younger version of Glenn Johnson, bad bad news!)
Haven't seen enough of Garay to comment. The Shark would probably get hurt before the fight went down. I'd favor Erdei but then again his opposition isn't exactly STRIKING so who knows really. RJJ should retire at this point. It's sad that the LHW division is so shitty that he's still a viable option for the champs.
At this stage of his career Roy will probably lose against abovementioned opponents. Erdei is too fast for Roy at this point of time,Diaconu too tough with too much firepower, and Garay would probably overpower Roy forcing him to quit in the later rounds. Anyway! I very much doubt that any of those fights will really come off.
There were serious talks about Roy fighting Markus Beyer (of all people...) in Germany for 1 million € about two years ago, Roy even came to Germany for negotiations, the fight didn't come off but it showed that Roy was finally ready to travel. It's not impossible to get Roy to Europe at this point if there's a belt on the line (and if the money is right of course), because Roys star has faded considerably in the US after his fight with Calzaghe. Roy is far past his prime, but I can still see him beating Erdei. Erdei is/was a pretty good and underrated fighter, but he's also past his prime already and is used to facing tomato cans and fringe contenders - even at this point Roy would be his best opponent in years.
