Jones had atg potential but not an atg career.

 

BS. Prime DM was better than Tarver, the Hopkins Jones fought, Ruiz. Johnson is not even near him and you do know that DM easily beat Griffin right?

 

Jones definitly was great and is worthy of the HoF but he ain´t up there with the true greats.

Ok outside of Ali and Robinson who doesn't he stand next to . Espn just had an all time greats list and rated Jones ,Ring mag has had Jones ranked for yrs . Most journalist don't argue his greatness its who he ranks under ?Yet he aint up there with the greats ?

 

No he is not. He isn´t Top10, he isn´t Top20 and he ain´t Top30. Top35 at best. He lacks the resume to be up there. Nothing to be ashamed of though. In about 130 years of history with hundred thousands of fighter in that time beeing Top35/40 is quite amazing.

He lost every round, landed and decent combo, and they stopped the fight? That's one of the fights people point to to show why you SHOULD NOT fight in Germany.

If Jones would have fought Dm, he would have whooped him, and Dm would have been roughly the 9th or 10th best pelt on his chain.

He was pound for pound the best fighter in the world for roughly 10% of boxing's existence. That makes him easily top 20, maybe top 10.

Take away the fact he ruled the lt Heavy division for around 6-7 years, won titles in 4 weight classes and was like the 2nd ever middleweight to win a title in the heavyweight division.
