Judah like Roy has a Glass Jaw. Additionally it can be argued Judah has no Heart and no Ring IQ. The main person hyping Judah was Max Kellerman. We all know what a clown he is. He is the same guy that said Roy Jones would beat Joe Frazier :roflatsch You can't take someone like that seriously.
Triple Duck isn't in the same league as Hagler or The Hawk. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that Jones was a walking dead man when those fights happened. Stop talking out of your ass.. No. That would be James Toney. Toney took his power from 160 all the way up to Heavyweight. Call me when Triple Duck gets a KO over the likes of Evander Holyfield.
Judah's flaws were many, but maybe you need to check the entourage he had for the tszyu fight to realize who else was invested in his career - it was a who's who
Ggg is still not proven enough to be compared to Rjj.he could turn out to be a middleweight atg eventually but for now I'll pick rjjj
GGG wants to unify, good on him. I can still argue it is not as much as Roy did... Bernard Hopkins did not lose again for over 10 years after Roy beat him, and is one of the greatest MW fighters of all time.. I am not sure GGG beating Miguel Cotto will stack up with that win. Remember, WHO you beat to become THE champion matters more than the fact that you are THE champion. Roy's victory over Hopkins is an example of one of those wins that don't look amazing at the time, but looks better and better as time goes on, as did Calzaghe's win over Hopkins. GGG moving up and beating Ward would be a great feat.. But he has not done it.. And lets not forget the fact that Jones moving up and beating Toney WAS a great feat.. Toney might not have technically been THE SMW champ, but he was regared as the best fighter alive by many, looked unstoppable at SMW, and by far considered the most risky dangerous fight for Roy.. Lets not pretend like he ran away scared to fight Toney, who was a hard hitter at that weight and favored to beat Roy. Some fights are bigger than titles, and that fight was considered as two of the best middleweights of the generation fighting. Not only was that fight for a SMW belt, but it was also deciding who was the best P4P fighter in the sport.. Huge fight Rico. Jones was chasing greatness by moving up. Not running scared. It can't be debated, that GGG has yet to even come close to achieving what Roy did.. And that is an undisputable fact.
As skilled as Golovkin is cutting off the ring and finding a way to land his punches on the guys put in front of him, I just can't see prime middleweight Jones getting touched with anything he doesn't want to be touched by.
In the first half of the fight, you may well be spot on the money. I'm betting that patient, relentless pressure for 3 minutes a round takes its toll on Jones physically and mentally, and that's when the mistakes come in. He's got a much smaller margin of error in this fight than Golovkin does.
It is not a given that Roy's precision counterpunching, and body shots don't take their toll on Golovkin first, who has never been tested with firepower like Roy had.
Very true. I rate Roy very highly H2H and picking Golovkin in this has more to do with styles since I think he's the one guy since Roy himself fought at middleweight that's equipped to beat him. Would it surprise me if Roy won? Absolutely not. The guy was a phenom. I just think Golovkin's uniquely equipped for the job, particularly if it turns out Roy's counters can't crack him early. We don't know just how durable GGG is, but we do know that he's never been floored or hurt yet. I've been talking trash in here on this thread, but make no mistake about it- beating Roy Jones at middleweight is no easy feat, and it's not something I just throw out whenever a flavor of the month gets hyped up. It's not nearly so simple as "pressure power puncher always cracks Jones' chin". It's the intelligent, patient pressure counterpunching style and footwork that fatigues fighters and makes them gunshy to throw back that give him a very real chance to win. It's impossible to fight Golovkin and avoid him for 12 rounds while winning a decision- to score enough to win, you're going to have to open yourself up, and that's what Golovkin is planning for all along. The pressure itself isn't the endgame- the counterpunching is, and GGG is a brilliant counterpuncher. He makes you throw to keep the pressure off, and that's when he counters you. That's the difference between me favoring Roy and favoring GGG. A more relaxed, more immobile style of counterpunching (like Toney or Hopkins) would never work on Roy. He's too fast, too mobile. It took the rare combination of efficient mobility and cutting the ring off, pressure components, one punch power, and elite counterpunching for me to pick against Roy....that's not something I usually do. Props for keeping it classy in here, I've got no issues with anyone who does favor Roy in it :good
Lol. Jones' power @ 160 was brutal. Slow ass wide punching front foot heavy Golovkin never lays a glove on Roy but eats a TON of left hooks and those leaping lead right hands Roy was known for. This fight, for as long as Roy allows it to last, isn't competitive. Jones was a 12 round fighter - and if by chance it went the distance, Jones wins every single round...
Roy beating Hopkins at that time does not mean he is unbeatable at 160. He then spent very little time at 168. Then he went to 175 where he never fought THE champion and #1 fighter in the Division. He was content to collect meaningless trinket belts and take on mandatories which is exactly what some in this thread are shitting on GGG for doing if he fights Solomon. Where is the double standard? Because Jones beat Hopkins in a UD means in no way shape or form he is unbeatable at 160. It is laughable to suggest such but I have a feeling the people on here doing it are young and naive and don't know their Boxing History so I will give them a pass for that. My one point is if GGG one day becomes THE Middleweight champion he will have done more than Roy at 160. Same if he moves up and beats Ward. Jones was arguably never THE champion in any weightclass he fought in. That is pretty telling for such an 'unbeatable' fighter. And he missed a whole bunch of legit contenders for some odd reason too but we have beat that subject into the ground. atsch
Jesus...isn't it a little early to be comparing the man to Jones? Shouldn't he beat a fighter who is at least great-ish first?
If you ask me I don't pick anyone against PRIME RJJ (160-175) Yet that does not mean hes unbeatable because no fighter is .
